Follow Up: Whitewater blaze still smoldering; millions of dollars in damage

Firefighters remain at the scene of a massive fire at a Whitewater garbage and recycling collection site, the fire department reported in an update. Teams are expected to remain there, clearing debris and guarding hotspots for the next several days. In its Tuesday morning statement, the fire department estimated the blaze, which sent smoke and flames towering over the John’s Disposal Services building, did millions of dollars in damage.

1 person dead after fire at Turtle Lake home

One person is dead after a fire at a home in Turtle Lake Monday evening. A 56-year-old man, the owner of the home, and a family pet were found dead after a fire on the 1200 block of 2nd Street in Turtle Lake. Turtle Lake Fire District said they were called to the structure fire at 5:57 p.m. Monday.

Fire on Green Bay’s east side leaves eight without a home

The Green Bay Metro Fire Department is currently working on overhaul operations after fighting a fire in the City of Green Bay. According to Batallion Chief Mike Vanden Avond, firefighters were called to the 1200 block of Day Street for a report of smoke and flames showing from a residence. Upon arrival, the units confirmed smoke and quickly extinguished the fire within ten minutes of arriving on the scene.

Follow Up: Milwaukee wrestling team recalls moment bus catches fire in rural Wisconsin

A bus carrying Milwaukee School of Engineering's wrestling team burst into flames Saturday night. The MSOE team was returning from a tournament in Itasca, Minnesota, when near Rice Lake, Wisconsin, they first heard a tire pop and then noticed a fire. "The maybe 20 seconds it took us to pull over, the flame was about as high as the window was at that time," assistant wrestling coach Sam Rathburn said.

Milwaukee County's first Narcan vending machine helping save lives

Milwaukee County saw more than 5,000 overdoses in 2022 and nearly 500 of those were fatal, according to the city’s overdose dashboard. That’s why the Greenfield Health Department is working to expand access to Narcan in the area. It’s a part of an ongoing initiative save lives amid the overdose epidemic locally and nationwide.

Fire crews in Walker say no one was hurt after firefighters battled a blaze at an apartment complex Monday afternoon. It happened around 2:30 p.m., and according to a post online by the Walker Fire Department, the fire started on a balcony off Weatherford Dr. NW. Milwaukee health leaders, barbershop collaborate to bring CPR training to community hub

Large fire at John’s Disposal Services in Whitewater

Tractor-Trailer Fire Blocks Lanes on Interstate in Virginia

VIDEO: A tractor-trailer fire caused delays on Interstate 495 in McLean, Virginia, on Sunday, authorities said. The truck was at mile marker 43.5 on I-495. 'Just imagine it': Massachusetts town reclaims 1948 fire truck, seeks money for restoration

Jane Clockadile is the daughter of an Abington firefighter and granddaughter of a fire chief. She can trace a long line of firefighters back to her forefathers in the late 19th century, such that her family history and the history of the Abington Fire Department are virtually indistinguishable. Today, Clockadile is leading an initiative to restore a fire truck purchased new by the town in 1948 for $12,500.
