VIDEO: Tulsa International Airport (TIA) has upgraded its phone system to alert first responders in the event of an emergency. It’s called a crash phone system. Greene County will give volunteer emergency responders a break on property taxes in an attempt to recruit and retain firefighters and EMTs as their numbers continue to decline across the state. The move takes advantage of a law signed by Gov. Kathy Hochul in December giving counties a standardized way to give the breaks.

After 34 years serving as a Waunakee first responder, Dave Kopp has retired. The Waunakee Fire Chief for the past six years, Kopp recently handed over the reins to Gary Hansen, who has served the department for more than three decades, as well. Kopp called the retirement “bittersweet.” He had carried on a legacy at the Waunakee Fire Department, following in the footsteps of his father, who was chief for 19 years.

An overnight fire in Fond du Lac lead to fire crews rescuing a woman from her home as the roof was engulfed by flames. The Fond du Lac Fire and Rescue (FDLFR) responded to a report of a house fire on 984 Ashbury Court at around 1:30 Tuesday morning. According to a release, when crews arrived on scene, they were face with heavy flames coming from the roof of the home.

The major train derailment in eastern Ohio has some Northeast Wisconsinites remembering a similar accident that happened in Weyauwega in 1996. Marietta Paap is a historian with the Weyauwega Historical Society and was in the city when the train accident happened in March 1996. She said when the accident initially happened she was just outside the city limits, but remembers seeing a plume of smoke.

The Western Lakes Fire District was dispatched Monday afternoon to a two story single family house fire on Mill Street in the Town of Oconomowoc, according to a press release by the Western Lakes Fire District. The initial call to report the fire was made by a neighbor who noticed smoke coming from the chimney and eavestrough.

Six adults and five children are safe after being rescued from an ice floe that broke away from Door County's shoreline Monday afternoon. The U.S. Coast Guard says it received a call about 11 people being stranded on the ice shortly after 12:30 p.m. Monday. They were stranded near Sherwood Point in southern Door County.

A manufacturing facility in Chicago Heights was destroyed in a massive fire Monday morning. The fire broke out at Morgan Li around 6 a.m. in the 1100 block of Washington Avenue. The 500,000-square-foot facility was completely engulfed in flames and quickly spread to neighboring buildings. No one was inside the plant at the time of the fire.

The Green Bay Metro Fire Department responded to an apartment fire on Green Bay’s east side last night. According to authorities, the fire was coming from a second-story apartment on the 1100 block of Emilie Street at around 5:45 p.m. The Green Bay Metro Fire Department says that crews arrived on the scene in under four minutes and were able to put the fire out quickly.
