VIDEO: Large fire burns at auto salvage yard in Washington State

A fire ignited at an auto salvage yard in Grapeview Wednesday, according to Chopper 7 video from the scene. Live video from the scene showed several piles of tires on fire, with flames extending to the largest building on the property. According to Washington State Patrol Trooper Katherine Weatherwax, seven 500-gallon drums of oil caught on fire.

Massachusetts city looks to bring back retired firefighters to work detail assignments

Quincy officials are looking for state lawmakers to approve a request that would allow retired firefighters to come back on board for support duties. The Quincy City Council supports giving the fire chief the power to appoint retirees as “special firefighters” who’d help cover detail assignments. A home rule petition the council filed this week requires approval from the state Legislature for such positions to be created.

Sheboygan firefighters save person trapped on roof during house fire, 2 injured

Firefighters in Sheboygan helped to rescue a person who was trapped on the roof of a home that was on fire on Tuesday night. According to the Sheboygan Fire Department, crews first received reports of a structure fire just before 10:40 p.m. on May 2. The first crews to arrive at the home in the 1900 block of South 13th Street say they noticed ‘heavy fire’ coming from the second story of the home and one person trapped on the roof.

New medical program will treat brain injuries, PTSD for veterans and first responders in southeastern Wisconsin

A new program to treat traumatic brain injuries in veterans and first responders is coming to Froedtert and the Medical College of Wisconsin following a $12.5 million donation from a national nonprofit. Advocates for the program, known as Building Resilience through Action in Veterans and First Responders and shortened to BRAVE, say it's the first of its kind in the Midwest.

Fire department unveils new University of North Texas-themed green fire engine

Smoking materials cause Sheboygan apartment fire

Sun Prairie Fire Department hosts demonstration of electric fire truck

The Sun Prairie Fire Department hosted the first demonstration of the first fully electric fire truck in North America. First launched in 2021 by the REV Fire Group, the EV REV Vector is able to respond to calls and pump for four hours straight on a single battery charge. The company said in addition to being energy efficient, it also eliminates exhaust and cancer-causing risks for first responders.

'Horrendous Fire' Destroys New Jersey Florist Shop

VIDEO/PHOTOS: A huge fire totally engulfed and destroyed a Bedminster Florist this past weekend. The Far Hills-Bedminster Fire Department was called to the fire at 15 Tuttle Ave. at the corner of Route 2o2 in Bedminster on Saturday, April 29 at 12:10 a.m. Firefighters arrived at 12:16 a.m. to a fully involved structure fire and two partially involved secondary structures, according to Far Hills-Bedminster Fire Department.

Fire Chiefs Association in Washington voices concerns over road variance requests

The Kittitas County Fire Chiefs Association has raised their concerns about existing road variance procedures within Kittitas County’s government. According to a letter obtained by a Daily Record public records request sent April 13 to Kittitas County’s Dan Carlson, the director of Community Development Services and the Variance Committee from the Kittitas County Fire Chiefs Association President Brandon Schmidt, the fire chiefs are seeing variances granted “strictly for aesthetic or economic reasons with no consideration as to mitigation of risk.

Illinois dust storm pile-up crash on interstate involving 72-vehicles leaves 6 dead, over 30 injured

VIDEOS: A dust storm in central Illinois led to a pile-up crash of more than 70 cars that killed six people and injured more than 30 others Monday. Crushed vehicles lined the expressway south of Springfield, closing a nearly 20-mile stretch of I-55. New Hampshire fire department paramedics and EMTs can now fill in as substitute school nurses

The agreement aims to alleviate shortages being experienced in the district. Arizona governor signs bill letting 911 dispatchers qualify for free trauma therapy

VIDEO: Gov. Katie Hobbs has signed legislation that allows Arizona's 911 dispatchers to receive free trauma therapy. Police officers and firefighters already qualify for a program that funds therapy sessions for public safety workers who undergo traumatic experiences while on the job. State law allows an officer or firefighter to get 12 free counseling sessions if they witnessed a person's death, was subjected to deadly force, or were involved in a case where children were victimized.
