Officials say Arcadia fire 100% contained, fire operations conclude

Significant progress was made by firefighters to contain the Arcadia Fire by Saturday. A statement released by the Fort McCoy Public Affairs Offices says that the fire has been extinguished. Fort McCoy officials had stated on Friday already that the fire burning on its north border was fully contained, with a spokesperson from the DNR clarifying that the Arcadia fire was at 99%.

VIDEO: Massive fire destroys barn in Illinois; no injuries reported

A massive fire destroyed a barn in far west suburban Sugar Grove Thursday. Firefighters from Elburn and Countryside assisted in containing the fire in the barn at 3-S-598 Bliss Rd. The fire was in a rural area with no fire hydrants, requiring tanks of water to be shuttled in. The barn was destroyed in the fire.

Fire & EMS team in Kentucky uses new device that treats patients, addresses opioid epidemic

VIDEO: The Anchorage Middletown Fire & EMS team has a new way of treating patients dealing with pain, that's also addressing the state's opioid epidemic. It's called the Nitronox and it's inside every AMFEMS ambulance. It's a portable machine that uses a mix of oxygen and nitrous oxide to treat patients for pain while they're on a scene or in the back of an ambulance headed toward the hospital.

Fire truck pulled from sinkhole in California; no injuries reported

VIDEO: A team effort was underway in Escondido to rescue one of their trucks from an "active sinkhole" that formed beneath the truck Thursday evening. Escondido police said they heard the radio call for assistance around 4:40 p.m. from a firefighter who said their engine had partially succumbed to a sinkhole in a church parking lot in the 1000 block of West Country Club Lane.

Vermont student earns Guinness world record for running in firefighting gear

Annual Firefighters Day at Missouri Capitol impacts the next generation of first responders

This annual event honors both current and past firefighters while encouraging the future to fight on. Hundreds of firefighters filled the Capitol rotunda with joy. Even though the majority of the room was filled with official firefighters, the real stars were the students admiring their work.

DNR: Fire north of Fort McCoy burns 3,000 acres, 50% contained

A fire north of Fort McCoy is now 50% contained. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources says about 3,000 acres have burned in Monroe County. A vast majority on the Fort McCoy base, only 70 acres were off base. Another 85 structures were threatened by the fire, so a larger area was evacuated.

Green Bay fire forces 6 out of home, causes $60,000 damage

VIDEO: The Green Bay Metro Fire Department says 3 adults and 3 children are out of their home after a fire on the city’s west side overnight Thursday. The fire in the two-story home was reportedly shortly before 4:30 a.m. on the 800-block of Division St. They found the fire burning in the ceiling between the first and second floors.

Former Merrill Fire Chief has his 80 year death solved

After over 80 years later - Merrill's former Fire Chief Aldord Talbot's death is recognized as having been in the line of duty. Talbot died October 7, 1941, originally documented as having happened in the fire house - but unrelated to a call. That's where Merrill Historian Michael Caylor discovered this searching through old funeral home obituaries.

DNR official: Jack Pine fire under control, Fort McCoy fire around 50% contained

A Wisconsin DNR Incident Management Team spokesperson said one wildfire is under control and another is still burning Thursday morning. Mike Hillstrom told 27 News that a fire in Necedah, dubbed the Jack Pine fire, and a fire near Fort McCoy are being fought together as the "Black River Complex." The DNR's Incident Management Team is leading the response to both.

Part of S. 19th St. on Milwaukee's south side was blocked off Wednesday night after several houses were destroyed in a fire. The fire started around 4 p.m. at a home near S. 19th St. and Burnham St. "So windy outside. So, I just checked out the window, and I saw the noise, where it was coming from, and I saw the house on fire," said neighbor Delia Velez, who told CBS 58 she heard a loud boom before seeing the fire.

Uber is funding an e-bike trade-in program in New York City to curb battery fires

Explosion inside Colorado garage sends firefighters, garage door flying

VIDEO: An explosion, early Tuesday morning, rocked a garage in Erie while firefighters were inside. It was so powerful, it completely blew off the garage door. Fire officials have issued a warning about electric vehicles and electric modifications at your home. A total of three Mountain View Fire Rescue firefighters were inside the garage when water made contact with the electric vehicle’s battery, officials said, causing that explosion.

Crews respond to fire in rural Outagamie County

VIDEO/PHOTOS: Crews responded Tuesday night to a fire in rural Outagamie County. Firefighters responded to Cicero Road before 7 o’clock. That’s northeast of Seymour. On the way to the scene, an Action 2 News crew reported being able to see heavy smoke billowing into the air from the highway. The fire appears to be affecting several buildings on farm property.
