Iowa no longer has a mandatory retirement age for reserve police officers and volunteer firefighters. Full and part-time police and firefighters in Iowa must retire at the age of 65. The governor has signed a bill into law that eliminates that age restriction for volunteer firefighters and trained reserve police officers who are volunteers, but can make arrests and investigate crimes.

A special tribute Sunday at Milwaukee's lakefront. The bridge was illuminated in red as a way to remember three Wisconsin firefighters that were killed in the line of duty in 2022. A fire reignited at the Shell Deer Park Chemical Plant, several hours after it was extinguished on Saturday. According to the Deer Park Office of Emergency Management, the fire has rekindled and firefighters are back putting it out. The fire was still burning on Sunday. The city of Deer Park said officials have gone over their wastewater storage capacity because they are using a large amount of water on the fire.

A massive three-alarm fire engulfed an industrial warehouse in Commerce Friday, sending thick smoke into the air and destroying what is believed to be a plastic manufacturing plant. The blaze erupted at about 3:40 a.m. in the 6500 block of Flotilla Street west of Davie Avenue. The Georgetown Fire Department is now the first in Kentucky to offer a specific type of cancer screening test to its firefighters.
