Northeast Wisconsin veterans face historic flooding to visit 9/11 memorial in New York

VIDEO: 59 Northeast Wisconsin veterans braved torrential rain Friday to visit the 9/11 Memorial and Museum In New York City. Meteorologists there say about a month’s worth of rain fell in just over three hours. Even though officials urged people to stay indoors Friday, this visit was so important that the veterans continued outside despite the weather.

Fundraiser being held to support Brookfield firefighter seriously injured in crash

VIDEO: Flashing lights and sirens are constant in Adam Yaresh’s life. However, Saturday night, the lights and sounds he experienced were there to save him, though he’s used to it being the other way around. Yaresh has been with the Brookfield Fire Department for the last six years. Before that, he worked on a volunteer basis with the Ixonia Fire Department and then in a full-time capacity with the Watertown Fire Department.

Minnesota fire department's new Quint 4 apparatus reduces emissions and can alert drivers when approaching

VIDEO: The Duluth Fire Department recently put a new Quint 4 apparatus into service with two features unique to the vehicle. “One is the HAAS safety cloud. It’s an alerting system that alerts drivers that are using Apple maps, or if you’re using Waze, or if you have a Jeep, Chrysler or Dodge make that’s 2008 or newer, this system will actually alert you when the fire truck is approaching you,” explained Deputy Chief Mike Consie.

Man gets 12 years for 2021 apartment shooting, explosion that wounded Texas firefighters

The man who shot into a southeast Oak Cliff apartment in 2021, severing a gas line and causing an explosion that injured several people, including Dallas firefighters, was sentenced to 12 years in prison on Wednesday, according to the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office. Phillip Dankins, 30, was sentenced to 12 years on a drug charge and 12 years on a charge of unlawful possession of a firearm, the DA’s office said.

New York City firefighters seen cutting apart truck that got wedged in tunnel, causing traffic nightmare

PHOTOS: A truck got stuck in a New York City tunnel between Brooklyn and Manhattan causing a miles-long traffic jam, resulting in firefighters sawing apart the vehicle's trailer, officials said. The 18-wheel tractor-trailer truck became wedged about a mile into the Hugh L. Carey Tunnel on Thursday morning, and it took responding crews around two hours to remove the vehicle, according to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

Barb (Englebert) Chisholm, a fifth-generation American of Belgian descent with ancestors who survived the devastating fire, will speak at the Belgian Heritage Center during the Remembrance of the Great Fire.

Battery charger blamed for elevated carbon monoxide in Madison home

Land O' Lakes EMS Adds Helipads

VIDEO: The Land O’ Lakes area is upgrading their emergency response times by building a series of new helipads. The helipads are being constructed in cooperation with LifeLink III which is the air ambulance service which serves the Northwoods. The new helipads will be along County Highway B with one just north of the intersection of County Highway S and County Highway B, and the other just south of the intersection of County Highway B and Palmer Lake Road.
