The Onalaska Fire Department hosted an open house event on Saturday, inviting residents and families to experience a day filled with excitement, education, and community engagement. For the younger attendees, there were interactive and educational activities. Children had the chance to explore fire trucks and equipment up close, while firefighters patiently answered questions and provided valuable fire safety tips.

Howard Fire Department receives $1.2M federal grant

The Howard Fire Department received a federal grant for more than $1,000,000. Chief Dennis Staeven says the grant will allow the department to hire more first responders. “It’s for a little over $1.2 million,” said Staeven. “That grant is going to be used to fund four firefighter positions for a period of the next three years starting in November of this year.

Teenager accused of threatening Pennsylvania EMS workers with 9mm gun

No arrests made in Alabama fire station shooting three months later

Fire Destroys Town of Union Storage Barn

A fire on Sandhill Road on Tuesday night destroyed a storage building in the town of Union. Brussels-Union-Gardner (BUG) Fire Chief Curt Vandertie says his department was dispatched to a fully engulfed barn on 778 Sandhill Road around 7:15 p.m. The blaze was several hundred feet behind a house well off the roadway with a 30-foot-by 40-foot building in flames.
