Fond du Lac Fire gives live demonstration for Fire Prevention Week

VIDEO: It’s Fire Prevention Week (Oct. 9-15) and local departments are taking time to remind homeowners how they can reduce the risk of a devastating fire. Action 2 News This Morning visited Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue to get some fire safety tips and live fire demonstrations. Division Chief Troy Haase demonstrated ways to prevent fires in your kitchen, living space, and garage.

A firefighter lost part of a finger while helping to battle a two-alarm fire on Milwaukee's north side, officials said. The fire was reported late Monday night at a duplex near 4th Street and Concordia Avenue. Flames then spread to a neighboring duplex. Police told WISN 12 News the firefighter was injured while using a saw on the roof.

Maryland family partners with fire company to raise $5 million to upgrade station

Karen Nicholson, of Edgewood, had the steadfast support of the members assigned to the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company's Hanson Road firehouse during her youngest son's more than three-year battle against leukemia. Now, she and her family are working to repay that support with a campaign to raise $5 million to upgrade the firehouse.

Watching a Samsung Galaxy Note 7 explode is terrifying

Vote could improve Osseo Rural Fire Station

Osseo Rural Fire Department Chief Nels Gunderson slipped between two firetrucks parked close together, then later pointed to damage a truck received when hit by another in the crowded station. “This was never designed to be a fire station, and we just don't have the room we need,” Gunderson said while explaining the need for a new, larger, better located facility.

Chief: Quick call from passersby averts worse Baraboo home-fire situation

Arcing electrical wires sparked an attic fire that damaged a Baraboo home Sunday morning. Baraboo Fire Chief Kevin Stieve said the fire caused extensive damage to the home’s roof and moderate smoke damage to its main level. Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the main body of the fire, which left moderate water damage.

Massachusetts fire chief on fire academy training explosion: 'It could have been body bags'

One South Hadley firefighter received burns on his face and another suffered concussion symptoms in an explosion during Massachusetts Fire Academy training that District 1 Fire Chief Robert Authier described as "a close call for everybody." Both firefighters have been released from the hospital after sustaining the injuries in the explosion involving propane gas on Tuesday evening.

112 fallen firefighters honored at Maryland memorial service

The U.S. Fire Service is adding 112 names to the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial in Emmitsburg, Maryland. Some South Carolina lawmakers want to allow first responders to carry guns

Three Lakes Pumpkin Fest raises funds for fire department

VIDEO: The sweet smell of peanut brittle and cinnamon rolls filled Three Lakes on Saturday as the Three Lakes Fire Department Auxiliary hosted its annual Pumpkin Fest. Linda Remington helped start the event 24 years ago and has remained dedicated to giving back to the community. "It's an incredible feeling," said Remington.
