VIDEO: West Metro Fire started the dog therapy program four years ago with two dogs, Remmey and Captain. Fast forward to today, the program is the largest in the state, with 11 therapy dogs. “The dogs bring an amazing sense of calmness and excitement to our crews. The dogs are just a really good addition to our crews and we’ve added to our toolbox of mental health and wellness," said Captain Reid Norwood at West Metro Fire station 3.

A Horry County Fire Rescue firefighter is opening up about his cancer battle as part of Firefighter Cancer Awareness Month. VIDEO: Teens from a boys home are dedicating helping shovel out fire hydrants in Richland Center each week. One of the teens is a young cancer patient. When a Richland Center firefighter posted on Facebook about the need to clear out fire hydrants, Forward Home for Boys jumped into action. The teens are dedicating two hours a week to clearing the snow off over 400 hydrants.

Seventeen-year-olds would be able to provide emergency medical services as part of ambulance crews under a bill proposed by GOP lawmakers in the Wisconsin Assembly.
