After 36 years in the Waukesha Fire Department, Chief Steve Howard has decided to retire. Waukesha Mayor Shawn Reilly made the announcement in an email that Howard will retire effective May 1. "While it saddens us to see Chief Howard leave the organization, we acknowledge that his well-deserved retirement marks the culmination of nearly 36 years of exemplary service to the city of Waukesha," Reilly said.

VIDEO: Flames broke out early Friday morning at a business near the intersection of Yates and Copeland avenues in Beloit forcing the evacuation of several homes in the area.
