Four Shelter Island Fire Department vehicles, ranging in years from 1929 to 1964, were right at home in the Cobbetts Lane Firehouse, the brick structure built into the side of the hill and known as the Potato House, from the time it was used to store harvested potatoes, once a profitable cash crop for the Island.

Thursday marks one year since the massive warehouse fire in West Easton.
We'd be hard pressed to find someone in the Easton area who doesn't remember this day last year.

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg announced a new rule on Tuesday requiring two-person crews on railroads in a move to bolster safety as rail regulation has come into the spotlight after the East Palestine, Ohio, derailment last year.

Three people are in the hospital after a massive house fire in Federal Way.
Video shot by a KIRO 7 photographer shows the house fully engulfed in flames.
South King Fire tells KIRO 7 the fire started around 2:40 p.m. Tuesday afternoon off 4th Avenue SW and 371st. The conditions of the three people who were hospitalized are not known.

VIDEO: The Proctorville Volunteer Fire Department’s station sustained extensive damage in Tuesday’s storms.
According to our crew at the scene, a rear block wall collapsed along with part of the roof.
Despite that damage, the department’s main fleet of vehicles didn’t sustain damage.

The fire started around 5 a.m. in a multi-family building on Meridian Street and traveled to two adjacent buildings, the Boston Fire Department said. Boston Fire Commissioner Paul Burke said one person died in the fire, and a child was injured and remains hospitalized.
