Effingham County Battalion Chief Matt Kicklighter died of natural causes over the weekend in Daytona Beach, FL, where officials say he was attending a fire and rescue conference.
The rain felt very fitting during the procession.

For years lawmakers have tried to pass a bill in the state legislature that would allow presumptive care for firefighters. Each year that bill is denied and for the most part it comes down to funding.
As the law stands now, it's up to the firefighter to prove his illness came while on the job. If this bill passes, it puts the burden of proof on the insurance carrier instead of the individual.

A young woman who recently gave birth to twins arrived at Fire Station 302 in Hesperia and surrendered her children under the states “Safe-Haven Law”.
It happened at about 8:40 pm, on January 28, 2019. San Bernardino County Fire department officials said, a woman showed up at the station and gave possession of the newborn twins to the crew.

VIDEO: It was probably the last thing Matt Olechnowicz expected when he asked a valet at a Biscayne Boulevard parking garage to get his car about 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Luckily, no one was hurt. 11 crews were out at the scene taking shifts as they battled and fire and the bitter cold. Officials say they were impressed with the community response. A liquid oxygen spill Monday prompted closure of the emergency room at Cedars-Sinai Marina del Rey Hospital and the postponement of surgeries, but no injuries were reported.
Firefighters were sent to the facility at 4650 Lincoln Blvd. about 8:40 a.m., according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
"The liquid oxygen spill originated from a sheared pipe on a 2,000- gallon tank," said Margaret Stewart of the LAFD.

A fire Sunday night destroyed a barn in the Eau Claire County town of Lincoln. The fire, at S6951 Morning Crest Drive just west of Fall Creek, was reported around 9:30 p.m. by property owner Jim Sadler. “Around 9:30 or so I looked out and saw an orange glow out there,” said Sadler, who immediately called 911 to report the blaze.
