25% of all critical infrastructure in the US is at risk of failure due to flooding, new report finds

As a massive investment to repair roads and adapt to climate change faces an uncertain fate in Congress, a new report finds much of the country's infrastructure is already at risk of being shut down by flooding. And as the planet heats up, the threat is expected to grow. Today, one-in-four pieces of all critical infrastructure in the US — including police and fire stations, hospitals, airports and wastewater treatment facilities — face substantial risk of being rendered inoperable by flooding, according to a new report released today by the First Street Foundation, a nonprofit research and technology group that assesses the threat posed by flooding across the country.

I-94 reopens in Waukesha County after fiery semitruck crash

All lanes on I-94 eastbound near County F/Redford Boulevard in Waukesha have reopened after a semi-truck crash and fire near Goerke's Corners. The crashed happened just after 5 a.m. Thursday. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation said the semi-driver hit the US 18 overpass and was ejected from his truck.

A massive fire destroyed an apartment complex on the north side early Friday morning and firefighters had a tough time putting it out. The fire broke out around 3 a.m. near Castle Hills. So far, there haven't been any reports of people injured, but several pets have been seen roaming around nearby. The Hartford Hosts Second Annual National Junior Fire Marshal Day; Deputizes 65,000 New Junior Fire Marshals

Ceremony to honor six Wisconsin firefighters, EMS personnel who died in the line of duty

A one-carrier fire and EMS provider is in the town of Merton's future, but for now things will remain the same

The Merton Town Board has agreed to extend its contract for fire and emergency medical services by six months with the privately operated Merton Community Fire Department. According to Merton Chairman Tim Klink, the contract extension will expire June 30. Klink said the goal for the town is to have a single-carrier system for fire and EMS at some point.

California firefighters responded to a person stuck on cliffside; They found a mannequin instead

A cliff rescue resulted in a surprise for firefighters in Santa Barbara on Monday. Crews were dispatched to Hope Ranch Beach around 4 p.m. after receiving reports of a person stuck on a cliff about 30 feet down. After arriving with UTV's, a drone, fire engines and a truck, firefighters discovered the "person" in need was a hanging mannequin.

Maine father and son firefighting team honored before heading overseas for deployment

Connecticut's bravest show breast cancer support with custom pink helmet badges

Local firefighters will be showing off their colorful side this month, with unique pink ribbon badges adorning their helmet fronts. Pink ribbons are a universal symbol of breast cancer prevention and support and typically worn during Breast Cancer Awareness Month each October. US could see 'twindemic' of severe flu and COVID-19

Onalaska Fire Department using National Fire Prevention Week to teach fire safety
