One Fox Valley woman is crediting a retired firefighter for saving her life. Fire crews were called to a fire in the 21000 block of Ratzka Lane in the Town of Norway Friday afternoon. It happened around 1:30 p.m. Upon arrival, the deputies observed heavy smoke coming from the residence and there were visible flames coming from the northeast corner of the structure. The house became fully engulfed and was a complete loss.

VIDEO: DeKalb County fire crews have been working to put out a massive fire at an abandoned condominium building in Clarkston Monday morning. At around 7 a.m., 11Alive SkyTracker showed flames shooting through the roof with the entire building engulfed. Within 40 minutes, most of the larger flames were out and all that was left was an exterior wall.

The Palmyra Fire Department responded to a residential fire near County Highway H on Friday morning, Jan. 21. Officials said the fire began in the garage around 10:45 a.m. and extended to the house. From there, it extended to the attic. The fire department was able to put out the fire before it consumed the rest of the house, officials said.
