Cancer Screenings Offered At Firehouses In Florida City As Part Of National Firefighter Cancer Awareness Month

Since 2015, over 70 percent of line of duty deaths has been because of cancer,” said Natasha Schaefer Solle, Ph.D., who is the Co-Deputy Director for the Firefighter Cancer Initiative with the University of Miami’s Sylvester Cancer Center.

Metro city in Georgia offering housing allowance to encourage officers, firefighters to live there

To recruit new officers and firefighters and keep current employees local, one metro city is offering a new incentive. The City of South Fulton unveiled a program for housing allowance up to $450 a month toward rent or mortgage payments. The pilot program, which is open to 25 people, will run from Feb.

Firefighters brave cold; Four people escape house fire in De Pere

Child, mother suffer burn injuries in Milwaukee house fire

A child and mother are being treated for injuries they suffered in a house fire. It happened just after 9 a.m. Wednesday near South 5th and West Madison streets in Milwaukee. Firefighters said a child and his or her mother suffered burns. They were outside when firefighters arrived and did not have to be rescued.

Shed fire in Washington County; no injuries

Firefighters on Tuesday, Jan. 25 responded to the scene of a shed fire in Washington County. Crews were notified of a possible fire in a wooded area on County Tk NN in the Town of Polk around 11:40 p.m. The first responding deputy on scene was able to observe a large fire in the woods from the roadway.

'This is an abnormal amount': Milwaukee Fire Department responds to more than 50 fires in January

Fire union in South Carolina wants higher wages for one city's firefighters

First responders can get PTSD help from group based in Colorado

One injured in Onalaska duplex fire

A quick response limits the time Onalaska firefighters spent battling the elements and a fire at a duplex Tuesday evening. The Onalaska Fire Department said the call to 403 Flint Court came in just before 7:30 p.m. and by 7:40--just 11 minutes later--the flames were extinguished. Person suffers minor injuries in Sun Prairie kitchen fire

One person suffered minor injuries in a house fire in Sun Prairie Tuesday evening, the city’s fire department said. Dale firefighter dies after battle with COVID-19

A member of Dale Fire & Rescue has died from COVID-19. Firefighter/Driver Operator Raymond Samson was 55. He passed away Saturday, Jan. 22. A heartfelt obituary was posted on the Borchardt & Moder-Hortonville Funeral Home website. “After a long, hard fought battle against COVID-19, Ray passed away peacefully, surrounded by love, on Saturday, January 22, 2022,” reads the obituary.

One person dies after trailer fire in Marshfield

One person died Monday after a trailer fire in Wood County. Fire crews responded around 3 p.m. to a trailer on Frey Court that had thick, black smoke coming out of it, according the Marshfield Fire and Rescue Department. Fire officials said crews tried to check for people inside, but they had to back out because of the heavy smoke.

Officials: 3 firefighters dead, one in critical condition following rowhome fire in Maryland
