No injuries after fire at Shorewood apartment building

No injuries were reported after a unit caught fire in an eight-unit apartment building on East Capitol Drive in Shorewood Wednesday evening. North Shore Fire/Rescue said in a statement a 911 caller reported an oven fire that was getting larger and spreading to the rest of the kitchen, at the apartment building at Capitol Drive and Larkin Street around 7 p.

Milwaukee house fire extinguised; no injuries reported

Firefighters on Thursday, Jan. 6 responded to the scene of a house fire near 22nd and Wright in Milwaukee. The call came in just before 1 a.m. Officials say no one was home at the time of the fire. One cat was found in the home but is OK. No injuries were reported. No additional details have been released – including the cause of the fire or the amount of damage sustained.

Fire destroys 2 buildings in Superior's North End

PHOTOS: Two vacant buildings were lost to a fire Thursday morning in the North End district. Superior firefighters received the call at 5:50 a.m. and 13 off-duty firefighters also responded at 6:10 a.m., Fire Chief Scott Gordon said in a news release. Wisconsin firefighters battle blaze at North End warehouse

PHOTOS: Flames from a warehouse engulfed in fire in the North End district could be seen throughout the city early Thursday morning. Firefighters battled the fire in brutal conditions. As of 8:45 a.m., the temperature was 10 degrees below zero, with wind chill at 22 degrees below zero, according to the National Weather Service in Duluth.

Medical University of South Carolina exploring use of MRI in ambulance to help stroke patients

The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) and Georgetown County Fire/EMS recently teamed up to test the feasibility of conducting an MRI scan in the back of a moving ambulance. The goal, according to MUSC, was to “cut down the steps that need to happen between the time a stroke patient is wheeled through the ambulance bay until the treatment can begin.

Florida fire department awarded 9/11 Survivor Tree sapling

The DeLand Fire Department has been awarded a sapling from the 9/11 Survivor Tree. The sapling has been planted on the southwest side of the new DeLand Fire Station 81 at 343 W. Howry Ave.. The 343 address number represents the 343 firefighters who were killed on 9/11. Each year, saplings from the 9/11 Survivor Tree are awarded to communities that have faced significant hardship.

Deadly duplex fire takes toll on Pennsylvania community, first responders

Massive anonymous donation to provide furnishings to multiple Georgia fire stations

Atlanta firefighters will get new washers, dryers and furnishings thanks to an anonymous donor gifting $150,000 to the Atlanta Fire Rescue Foundation’s Fire Station Fund. This most recent contribution is the largest ever in the history of the Fire Station Fund and will give four Atlanta Fire Rescue Stations in the neighborhoods of Buckhead and Southwest Atlanta the resources to make improvements and upgrades to the interiors of the fire rescue stations.

Battle of the Badges Blood Drive kicks off in Janesville

Blood is in short supply across the country, so the Rock River Valley Blood Center in Janesville is aiming to bring in donations. It's hosting an event called the Battle of the Badges Blood Drive. 1 dead after vehicle pulled from retention pond in Oak Creek

A 36-year-old man was found deceased after a vehicle was pulled from a retention pond in Oak Creek Tuesday, Jan. 4. The Oak Creek Fire Department responded to the pond in the area of 13th Street and Ryan Road around 10:30 a.m. after officers discovered broken car parts on the side of the road near the pond.

A section of a wall collapsed in Lincoln County just feet away from where firefighters were battling an early morning blaze Tuesday. Millions of Jeeps and Rams are about to get a lifesaving new safety feature

As many as 4 million drivers are about to become safer, thanks to an over-the-air software update Stellantis will send to their vehicles — at no cost — in January. The Jeep, Ram, Dodge and Fiat and Alfa Romeo vehicles will receive alerts when they near an emergency vehicle with its flashers lit. The feature, called the Emergency Vehicle Alert System (EVAS), will initially be available in North America, but Stellantis could roll it out across the 14 brands the automaker sells around the world.

13 People, Including 7 Kids, Die in Fire That Tore Through Pennsylvania Rowhome

January is Firefighter Cancer Awareness Month

8 Viroqua firefighters, 3 members of the public complete first responder course

In response to the growing need for emergency responders in the community, Viroqua Fire Chief Chad Buros has been working with Gundersen Lutheran to expand the services of the Viroqua Fire Department to now include Emergency Medical Responders. On the night of Dec. 16, eight Viroqua firefighters and three members of the public completed the Medical First Responder Advanced Skills course from Western Technical College.

Milwaukee fire station closed temporarily: 'Major structural issues'

The Milwaukee Fire Department has temporarily closed its fire station near Teutonia and Locust after "major structural issues" were found, officials announced Thursday, Dec. 30. Fire Station 30 is an "older-style" station, built in 1911, with a basement beneath the large apparatus floor. According to MFD, evidence of a partial failure of the apparatus floor, which houses fire trucks and more, was observed.

Racine County has long been facing shortages of EMTs, costs are rising

That’s been the answer for all calls since May, said Christopher Siebeneich, chief of the private ambulance company, 3204 Washington Ave. “Other than planned events, I don’t have anybody,” Siebeneich said.

Colorado coaches, firefighters build community via ladder trucks and takedowns

For John Alley and Luke Barron, being firefighters and varsity wrestling coaches isn’t simply a matter of balancing two jobs. It’s more like a double-dip in intertwined vocations. Tent And Trailer Serve As Newest Fire Station in Texas City
