De Pere Fire-Rescue Battalion Chief Jack Mlnarik says four people escaped the home in the 800-block of Ash Street. One person from the upper unit was injured during evacuation and taken to a hospital for medical treatment.

A child and mother are being treated for injuries they suffered in a house fire.
It happened just after 9 a.m. Wednesday near South 5th and West Madison streets in Milwaukee. Firefighters said a child and his or her mother suffered burns.
They were outside when firefighters arrived and did not have to be rescued.

Firefighters on Tuesday, Jan. 25 responded to the scene of a shed fire in Washington County. Crews were notified of a possible fire in a wooded area on County Tk NN in the Town of Polk around 11:40 p.m.
The first responding deputy on scene was able to observe a large fire in the woods from the roadway.

A quick response limits the time Onalaska firefighters spent battling the elements and a fire at a duplex Tuesday evening.
The Onalaska Fire Department said the call to 403 Flint Court came in just before 7:30 p.m. and by 7:40--just 11 minutes later--the flames were extinguished.
One person in the building at the time was taken for treatment by Tri-State Ambulance.

One person suffered minor injuries in a house fire in Sun Prairie Tuesday evening, the city’s fire department said.
The fire broke out at a home in the 300 block of East Kohler Street on the city’s east side. In a news release, the Sun Prairie Fire Department said the home’s residents and pets were able to get out before firefighters arrived.

A member of Dale Fire & Rescue has died from COVID-19.
Firefighter/Driver Operator Raymond Samson was 55. He passed away Saturday, Jan. 22.
A heartfelt obituary was posted on the Borchardt & Moder-Hortonville Funeral Home website.
“After a long, hard fought battle against COVID-19, Ray passed away peacefully, surrounded by love, on Saturday, January 22, 2022,” reads the obituary.

One person died Monday after a trailer fire in Wood County.
Fire crews responded around 3 p.m. to a trailer on Frey Court that had thick, black smoke coming out of it, according the Marshfield Fire and Rescue Department.
Fire officials said crews tried to check for people inside, but they had to back out because of the heavy smoke.

Three firefighters were killed and one critically injured from a partial building collapse while battling a fire in a vacant rowhome in west Baltimore early Monday, officials said. One Fox Valley woman is crediting a retired firefighter for saving her life.
The woman was in one of two duplexes in Appleton’s north side, where a fire broke out last week.
“Wherever he came from is like a miracle to me!” Virginia Muyano said.
