Fire crews were called to a fire in the 21000 block of Ratzka Lane in the Town of Norway Friday afternoon. It happened around 1:30 p.m.
Upon arrival, the deputies observed heavy smoke coming from the residence and there were visible flames coming from the northeast corner of the structure. The house became fully engulfed and was a complete loss.

VIDEO: DeKalb County fire crews have been working to put out a massive fire at an abandoned condominium building in Clarkston Monday morning.
At around 7 a.m., 11Alive SkyTracker showed flames shooting through the roof with the entire building engulfed. Within 40 minutes, most of the larger flames were out and all that was left was an exterior wall.

New York City’s fire commissioner said Friday that he will retire next month after more than seven years in the job and a career that spanned more than five decades and included stints in every rank in the department.

At least one in five Americans have now been infected with COVID-19 since the pandemic began, but the number is likely higher, including secondary to unreported asymptomatic cases, according to The Hill.

VIDEO: A bus used by a Milwaukee homeless outreach organization to distribute food, clothes and other resources has been destroyed in an arson.
Vicky Cordani, vice president of the Street Angels board of directors, told the Journal Sentinel Friday the bus was stocked with a range of critical items the organization hands out to the homeless population throughout Milwaukee County.

The Palmyra Fire Department responded to a residential fire near County Highway H on Friday morning, Jan. 21.
Officials said the fire began in the garage around 10:45 a.m. and extended to the house. From there, it extended to the attic. The fire department was able to put out the fire before it consumed the rest of the house, officials said.

East Central Energy turned unspent budget dollars over to 26 volunteer fire departments across its 14-county service area in Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Madison’s fire chief was honored Thursday as a “Hometown Hero” during an Assembly session for the impacts he has made in the community.
City of Madison Fire Department Chief Steven Davis has served as a member of the agency for the last three decades, holding the position of chief since 2021. He will be retiring this April.

VIDEO: Milwaukee firefighters battled a huge house fire Thursday morning in the frigid cold.
News Chopper 12 captured flames and thick smoke pouring out of the roof of a house near 29th and Townsend streets. Investigators said the fire started on the first floor and quickly spread to the second floor and then up to the attic.

Ryan Krings is a busy man.
Not only does he have a full-time job as a firefighter with Neenah-Menasha Fire Rescue, where he works about 56 hours a week, but he's the volunteer chief of the Winneconne-Poygan Fire Department. Though Krings isn't paid as volunteer chief, he works about 20 hours a week there on top of coaching football at the high school.

Paul Oliver is the newest member of the Ashland Fire Department. Oliver recently graduated from Chippewa Valley Technical College’s fire medic associate degree program and also has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Minnesota.
Oliver comes to AFD with five years of experience with the Lake City, Minnesota Fire Department and two years with the United Fire Department and Baldwin Ambulance Service.

Petersburg Fire and Rescue has hired the first female fire chief in its nearly 250-year history. Chief Tina R. Watkins is taking over on a permanent basis after a number of years where interim leaders have directed Petersburg’s fire department.
Watkins began her career as a firefighter. For the past 11 years, she has been a Battalion Chief for Richmond Fire and Emergency Services where she supervised five stations and six fire companies.

VIDEO: Authorities say two people have died after a vehicle collided with a fire truck in Camden County Wednesday morning.
The crash occurred around 10:30 a.m. near Warwick Road and North White Horse Pike.
Authorities say a fire truck from Lawnside was heading southbound on Warwick when it collided with a car that was heading west on White Horse Pike.
