Superior Fire Department rolls out new decontamination trailer

The city rolled out a new tool for dealing with hazardous materials incidents last week — a decontamination trailer. The 56-foot trailer was parked behind the Superior Fire Department headquarters for tours. It’s something the FBI or large metropolitan teams in Chicago, the Twin Cities or Los Angeles would have, said Superior Fire Chief Scott Gordon.

Fire at Montrose hay barn causes $20K in damage, no injuries

PHOTOS: A fire at a Montrose hay barn caused about $20,000 worth of damage Sunday. Belleville Volunteer Fire Department crews were sent to the barn after a report of a structure fire. The caller later indicated that a skid steer was on fire in the barn. Officials said a farmer was able to put out the fire before the first engine arrived on the scene.

Vacant home fire in Racine, intentionally set

Preliminary estimates put the loss at around $450,000 after a fire destroyed a shed that housed a small business outside of Mount Horeb. The Dane County Sheriff's Office says crews got a call just before 5 p.m. Thursday about a fire at 3128 K and R Road in the Town of Springdale. Lieutenant Jessamy Torres says the multi-use building housed a small business, and was used as storage and a residence.

Victims ID'd in fatal Marathon County fire, foul play ruled out

The identities of two people who died in a fire on April 6 have been released and foul play has been ruled out in their deaths. The Marathon County Sheriff's Office says the victims are 44-year-old Tanya Rodriguez and 52-year-old James Carolfi, both from the town of Day. "Upon the firefighter's arrival they were unable to locate the homeowners and found evidence of suspected foul play for this reason we originally treated this incident as a homicide until we had more information," Chad Billeb, Marathon County Chief Deputy said.

Bittersweet memories for Illinois firefighters as they say farewell to historic fire station

Car crashes, fire extinguished near 53rd and Custer in Milwaukee

Witnesses say a driver lost control before crashing and catching fire on Milwaukee's north side Wednesday, April 20. Cellphone video shows flames shooting from a car before an explosion.
