Firefighters battle barn blaze in Hubbard

A fire caused excessive damage to a barn in the town of Hubbard Wednesday afternoon. Fire crews from Iron Ridge, Hustisford and Neosho were called to a fully-engulfed structure fire shortly before 2 p.m. at W3626 Decora Road, according to Iron Ridge Fire Chief Jason Keller. Upon arrival, firefighters found three-quarters of the barn in flames, as well as a cornfield burning across the road.

Waupaca County house fire leaves one person dead

One person died in a residential home fire Wednesday morning. The Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office Communication Center heard a home located at N11557 County Highway P was fully engulfed in flames around 2:18 a.m. Waupaca County Sheriff’s Deputies and the Iola Fire Department reported to the home, according to Detective Sergeant Paul Hanneman.

New Jersey firefighter hospitalized after being grazed by stray bullet at firehouse

VIDEO: A firefighter in Trenton, New Jersey was wounded by a stray bullet while working out at the firehouse on Tuesday night, officials said. It happened around 8:30 p.m. at Trenton Fire Company 1: Engine 1 on the 400 block of Calhoun Street. Two bullets pierced the back of the firehouse. Police say one bullet struck the firefighter who was in the weight room.

Oldest active firefighter in South Carolina dies

The Abbeville County Fire Department announced the passing of Mr. Hobart “Hobie” Erickson, the oldest active firefighter in the state of South Carolina. He was 95 years old. Erickson served as a first responder for over 65 years. His career started in 1965 in New Jersey. He later moved down south and joined the Donalds Fire Department more than 35 years ago where he once served as chief of the station.

Fond du Lac Fire Department Called To Another Residential Fire

For the third time in three days, the Fond du Lac Fire Department was on the scene of a residential fire. FDL Fire Rescue was called out Tuesday April 26, 2022 at 3:34 p.m. for a report of a garage fire at 598 S. Military Rd. Once on the scene, fire crews found thick smoke from the front of the garage and heavy fire showing from the rear service door.

Fire at Madison apartment complex displaces resident

A Madison man was forced out of his apartment Monday after a fire. Madison Fire Department crews were sent to a complex on Deer Valley Road just after 9:30 p.m. after residents reported seeing smoke. Officials said one of the residents returned home as firefighters were searching the building. When the man opened his door, he saw dark, heavy smoke.

Good Samaritan Rescues Manitowoc County Woman from Burning SUV After Crash Into Barn

PHOTO: A good Samaritan is being credited with pulling a woman from a burning SUV after the vehicle crashed into a barn overnight. Manitowoc County sheriff’s officials say they were called to the area of Highway 42, north of Irish Road just after 12:15 a.m. Authorities determined a 21-year-old woman from Kewaunee County was driving an SUV north on 42 when her vehicle went off the road and into the ditch.

Sun Prairie home’s balloon frame made battling fire more dangerous

Didion Milling donates $100K to first responders, FFA for 50th anniversary

Didion is celebrating 50 years of operation by donating to local nonprofits. The milling company gave $100,000 to local first responders and other agencies on Monday. A total $77,500 went to the fire departments of Cambria, Pardeeville, Randolph, Friesland, Columbus and Fall River, as well as the Columbia and Jefferson County Sheriff’s departments.

Dry heat and high winds a factor in multiple weekend fires in northeast Wisconsin

Texas: Mechanical engineering students design device for fire department

FDNY puts up first all-women rescue paramedic team in national EMS competition in Indiana

The FDNY is about to make “herstory” — and they may get a trophy out of it. For the first time, the department is sending an all-women rescue paramedic team to test its life-saving skills against other first responders in a national competition, the FDNY said. The four life-savers fly to Indiana to compete in the 2022 Journal of Emergency Medical Services (JEMS) Conference and Expo, where they will run through three realistic, high-pressure scenarios to see if they can assess injuries and provide care quickly and accurately.

Alaska firefighter, athlete overcomes challenges to win Ski Ultramarathon

Jaclyn Arndt is 31 years old and works for the Homer Fire Department as a firefighter and EMT. But her new passion is ultra-marathon racing. Earlier this month, she became the first female skier to finish the Iditarod Trail Invitational (or ITI), a 350-mile course from Knik Lake to McGrath. It’s pretty impressive considering she just started marathon racing within the last two years.

Off-duty firefighters called in to help extinguish rampant Fond du Lac house fire
