VIDEO: Almost three dozen people were left without a home after flames tore through a Clayton County apartment on Wednesday evening. Firefighters spent several hours battling the massive blaze.
The first reports of the fire came in around 7:25 p.m. Fire crews were dispatched to the Ashford at Stone Ridge apartments off Flat Shoals Road.

Mulliken is running a 5k a day for 343 straight days in honor and remembrance of all 343 firefighters who died on 9/11.

Five people are named as finalists to become the next chief of the La Crosse Fire Department.
The city released the names of the candidates Wednesday afternoon. None are currently with the department. Only one is from the area.
Assistant Fire Chief Les Norin of the Onalaska Fire Department is one of the five.

VIDEOS: A fire at a chemical production plant in downtown Omaha burned Monday night into Tuesday morning.
KETV NewsWatch 7 drone footage and Google Earth images show the damage to the Nox Crete facility, located near 20th and Center streets. The first call for help at the facility came at 6:53 p.m., according to Battalion Chief Scott Fitzpatrick.

VIDEO: Vandals destroyed the Homewood Acres volunteer firehouse over Memorial Day weekend – and the break-in happened in broad daylight.

The Junction City Fire Department is hoping to stop bullying starting with schools in Boyle County.
Firefighters said after incidents in their own community and now the tragedy in Texas, the department is hoping to change lives, one student at a time.
It is called “Firefighters Against Bullies.” The program was started in Pennsylvania by a group of firefighters hoping to draw awareness to schools and to build an anti-bullying program.

It was the single biggest loss of life in the history of the Houston Fire Department.
Nine years ago, the Southwest Inn fire ultimately claimed the lives of five firefighters. The four firefighters who died on the scene were Robert Bebee, Robert Garner, Mathew Renaud, and Anne Sullivan.
In March 2017, Captain Bill Dowling, who lost both of his legs in the fire, died of complications from the injuries sustained in the line of duty.

The Town of Beloit has received a $7 million grant throught the Neighborhood Investment Fund which will be used to rebuild the township’s fire station on Inman Parkway.

The fire department has a new assistant fire chief.
Howard Huber, a 16-year veteran of the Superior Fire Department, stepped into the job May 2. The new position is 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, instead of the firefighters' schedule of 48 hours on, 96 hours off.
“I’m learning what weekends are,” Huber said.
