Elected officials got a chance at handling practice emergency calls as part of a course held at Northeast Technical College called Fire Ops 101.

The Marshfield Fire Department has released details about the unusual cause of a fire.
Crews were called to the Tower Hall apartments around 4 p.m. on Friday for the report of clothing on fire.
Investigators determined the clothing had been exposed to cooking oil. The clothes were laundered, dried in a dryer, and remained a basket.

After more than 2,000 gallons of gasoline leaked into the sewer lines, homes in a section of Ventura were evacuated for hours on Sunday.

A Racine family is counting their blessings after a fire tore through their home Wednesday, Sept. 18.
Trinity Kornas loves playing with her eight brothers and sisters. Wednesday, that love of fun might have saved her family, when her little brother asked her to check out his toy.
"If I hadn’t have looked at his bubbles," Trinity Kornas said, "I wouldn’t realize there was a fire in my mom and dad’s bedroom.

The crash occurred in Irvine on the 241 toll road near SR-133 shortly before 7 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

Volunteering used to be a mainstay of U.S. culture. But in recent years, giving back to their community hasn’t played as big a role in many Americans’ lives.
New research from the University of Georgia suggests the economy may be to blame.

Reedsburg area fire departments worked for over 10 hours Wednesday to extinguish fires that engulfed two large sheds with massive amounts of hay in them, according to Reedsburg Fire Chief Craig Douglas.
No injuries were reported.
The fires were reported at 1:05 p.m. at S3474 Thieman Hill Road in the Town of Reedsburg.

VIDEOS: More than two dozen adults and children were taken to be treated after a tractor accident involving two hay wagons happened at an apple orchard near Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, fire officials said.

A luxury yacht carrying nearly 1,000 rounds of ammunition and fireworks caught fire shortly before capsizing in the Marina del Rey harbor on Wednesday evening. Two people were on board the 100-foot yacht when the fire ignited, but both were able to get off safely.
The U.S. Coast Guard continued environmental cleanup efforts Thursday morning as the yacht bobbed on its side, testing air quality and remediating water contamination from fuel spillage.
