Pinning ceremony hosted by West Bend Fire Department recognizes and honors firefighters

The West Bend Fire Department hosted a pinning ceremony Monday night during which The Badger Firefighters Association issued 25-year awards to seven firefighters. At the annual pinning ceremony held at Station #1, 325 N. 8th Avenue, West Bend, the West Bend Fire Department recognized firefighters who have served for 25 years and also those who were recently retired, hired and promoted.

Wildfires' impact on southeast Wisconsin climate

Wildfires have become one of the top natural disaster headlines over the recent years. Extended periods of drought and extreme heat are a few factors contributing to rapid wildfire development and spread. NOAA scientists have been studying the increase in natural vs. human caused fires. Short-term human caused fires range from fireworks to igniting a fire when conditions are favorable for it to spread (low humidity, strong winds).

Texas firefighters relive tornado’s destruction of fire station, wait patiently for insurance help

Historical Massachusetts fire engine undergoes repairs

PHOTOS: A 1920 Seagrave Ladder Truck used in parades and popular with residents is undergoing extensive repairs before returning to the road. Athol Fire Capt. Eric Jack said the truck is being repaired at Gasper Automotive Restoration in Manchester, CT. According to the company’s web site, it specializes in restoration of vintage trucks, cars and antique fire apparatuses.

Firefighter forges lasting legacy in central Indiana

The full-time Indianapolis firefighter spends his free time as a metal worker at Indy Art Forge, the metal working company he’s owned for 20 years. “Like all firefighters, you’ve got to have something to do on the side,” Feeney said. First responders get creative when saving people at postal service training center in Oklahoma

VIDEOS: The tornado in Norman on Sunday night caused serious damage to buildings. First responders had to get creative when they saved several people at a postal service training center. Power lines had people trapped inside the building so a deputy had to think quickly to get patients out. "We came up with the idea, that we should load up my car, that way we can get medical attention to patients inside the building," said Deputy Jacob Overling with the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office.

Arkansas fire department partners with PulsePoint app to aid in emergency response

Multiple buses catch fire on Green Bay’s west side

Multiple buses caught on fire early Tuesday morning on Green Bay’s west side. According to a release, the Green Bay Metro Fire Department responded to the 1600 block of Dousman Street just after 1 a.m. for a report of a bus fire. When firefighters arrived, they reportedly saw four buses already on fire in the parking lot.
