A chemical spill involving a 500-gallon tank in Burlington caused the Racine County Hazmat Team to respond to Lavelle Industries on Wednesday, March 1.
Authorities responded to a report of a hazmat spill with a chemical reaction involving a dip tank around 12:10 p.m. According to the City of Burlington Fire Department, Lavelle Industries employees were evacuated, and everyone was accounted for.

Ten people were hospitalized after a Spirit Airlines plane bound for Orlando, Florida, made an emergency landing in Jacksonville due to a fire onboard, according to officials.
Spirit Airlines Flight 259 landed at Jacksonville International Airport around 2 p.m. on Wednesday, after the crew reported a battery on fire in an overhead bin.

A smoke detector alerted people in a duplex in Menasha to a fire Wednesday afternoon.
Neenah-Menasha Fire Rescue says it was on the scene on the 200 block of Kaukauna St. within 4 minutes of the call and found smoke coming from the two-story building. People who had been in the duplex told firefighters everyone made it out.

On March 1, 2022, a family was inside their home on Millers Court when they smelled gas. They managed to get out before an explosion across the street completely destroyed their home.

Austin-Travis County EMS on Wednesday began housing medics inside Austin-Bergstrom International Airport to improve response times as a record-high number of passengers are flying in and out.

A community on the North Shore is discussing an idea that would have police officers trained to become volunteer firefighters.
The goal of the proposal is to help with recent staffing shortages in Manchester-by-the-Sea, but the firefighters union doesn't think it's a good idea.
