Dog recovering after falling through ice on the Fox River in Little Chute

A dog is recovering Saturday night after falling through the ice on the Fox River. The Fox Valley Metro Police Department and Little Chute Fire Department responded to the emergency, saying the dog was swimming but having trouble staying above water. Officer Gueli shared his body camera footage that captures the moment firefighters rescued the dog from the river.

New Milwaukee firefighter achieved his dreams, then got a memento of his grandfather's bravery in a 1930 theater fire

Calmly he directed all 1,000 cinemagoers onto the street, and the Milwaukee Fire Department commended him for his bravery. “Discipline and quick thinking are often spoken about but rarely understood, because they are seldom put to an actual test,” Depression-era Fire Commissioner Joseph Stein said at the time.

SUV destroyed in Oconto fire

No one was hurt when an SUV caught fire in Oconto early Friday morning. At about 6:54 a.m., Oconto firefighters were called to the 2700 block of Logtown Rd. in the Town of Oconto. A 2016 Chevrolet Equinox was on fire about 25 feet away from a home. Crews arrived to find the unoccupied vehicle engulfed in flames.

North Carolina fire, police departments want to improve staff diversity

Two city departments are trying to shake up their staffs. Asheville police and fire officials said they are lacking diversity. Washington State: New kiosk in Sea-Tac Airport trains travelers in CPR

On Wednesday, The Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (Sea-Tac) and the American Heart Association unveiled a new hands-only CPR kiosk that has the ability to train and test travelers in bystander CPR in about five minutes. The kiosk, located in the Central Terminal, includes a touch screen display with video instruction and tutorials, followed by an interactive practice session and test.

Eau Claire Fire Department employee sentenced after embezzlement investigation

An Eau Claire Fire Department employee has been sentenced after an investigation regarding embezzlement. Court documents show William Drath has been sentenced to three years of probation and 480 hours of community service. Drath, a former firefighter union treasurer, was accused of embezzling more than $18,000.

Oshkosh fire sends three people to the hospital

Man taken to burn center with serious, possibly life-threatening injuries after Racine house fire

Firefighters on Thursday morning, Nov. 14 responded to the scene of a house fire near 10th and Racine Street in Racine. Racine police say one man was taken to the burn center with serious, possibly life-threatening injuries. A second man was taken to the hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation. Father, daughter make history with Philadelphia Fire Department
