Congressmen introduce bill to make National First Responders Day a federal holiday

COVID-19 cases are on the rise in all 50 states, NBC News data shows

Coronavirus cases have increased in all 50 states plus Washington, D.C., the U.S. Virgin Islands and Guam over the past 14 days, the latest NBC News data showed Tuesday. And in a dozen of those states — Vermont, Maine, Minnesota, New Hampshire, Iowa, Ohio, Colorado, Michigan, Nebraska, Kansas, Pennsylvania and New York — infections have spiked in the last two weeks, meaning there has been a 100 percent or more increase in confirmed cases over 14 days.

Sturgeon Bay passes COVID-19 compensation for part-time firefighters

The City of Sturgeon Bay took action Tuesday evening to protect part-time firefighters from lost wages in case they would contract the coronavirus working for the fire department. The Personnel Committee recommended to the city council to approve the coordination of compensation for the firefighters for qualifying COVID-19 conditions.

2 injured in Green Bay house fire

Two people were injured Tuesday evening in a house fire. Firefighters responded around 5 p.m. Tuesday to a home in the 2900 block of West Point Road for a report of smoke coming from the residence and a person still inside, according to the Green Bay Metro Fire Department. When firefighters arrived, smoke was coming from the door.

Madison firefighters knock down apartment fire

Madison firefighters managed to knock down a blaze at an apartment building on the Isthmus Tuesday after before it could spread to other units. Everyone was evacuated from the multi-unit home, in the 1300 block of Rutledge St., after someone spotted smoke seeping into the hallway through an apartment door, according to the Madison Fire Dept.

Cooking fire in Sun Prairie duplex displaces 2 families

Two families have been displaced following a cooking fire in Sun Prairie on Monday. A news release said officials were sent to the 2000 block of Wyoming Avenue for a report of a residential structure fire at about 5 p.m. Firefighters arrived to the scene in less than two minutes and confirmed everyone had safely evacuated the duplex.

8 firefighters swept off pier, injured in daring Lake Michigan rescue attempt

One killed in crash with fire truck in Alabama

Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate a two-vehicle crash at about 8:16 a.m. Sunday that resulted in a man's death.
