A huge floating fire station will make its permanent home in San Francisco early Thursday morning. A new Fireboat Station 35 will house the San Francisco Fire Department’s three fireboats and rescue watercraft, replacing the existing 105-year-old fire station on the Embarcadero, according to the city’s Public Works department.

A structure fire early Monday morning in the city caused about $10,000 in damage but no injuries. According to a news release from the Chippewa Falls Fire Department: Firefighters and the EMS Department responded to the blaze at 210 E. Investigators are looking for the cause of a weekend fire that killed a man in Appleton. Officials say the man’s house was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived Saturday. A next-door neighbor spotted the flames and called 911. Firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control in about 30 minutes and found the victim once the fire was extinguished.

Sunday marked 32 years since six Kansas City Missouri firefighters died in an explosion. The explosion happened at a construction site on Nov. 29, 1988. The crews were fighting a trailer fire. One man was rescued Sunday from a pre-dawn fire that destroyed at least two buildings in downtown Tomah. Tomah Police Chief Tim Adler said every building on the east side of the 1100 block of Superior Avenue likely sustained some kind of damage. “We have smoke and water extension into pretty much everything on the block,” Adler said.
