A huge floating fire station will make its permanent home in San Francisco early Thursday morning.
A new Fireboat Station 35 will house the San Francisco Fire Department’s three fireboats and rescue watercraft, replacing the existing 105-year-old fire station on the Embarcadero, according to the city’s Public Works department.

An oversized, multicolored quilt, deemed the “Quilt of the Angels,” was draped over the altar at the Church of the Holy Family in Little Italy for Sunday’s 5 p.m. Mass. The names and ages of all 95 victims from the Our Lady of Angels School fire in 1958 are stitched on each patch.

In an exclusive interview with ABC10 News, a firefighter shared his heroic story of helping battle the massive fire that erupted aboard the USS Bonhomme Richard this past July.

A structure fire early Monday morning in the city caused about $10,000 in damage but no injuries.
According to a news release from the Chippewa Falls Fire Department:
Firefighters and the EMS Department responded to the blaze at 210 E. Willow St. at about 1:40 a.m. They found smoke and flames coming from the attic area and all occupants evacuated.

The New Berlin mayor and Police and Fire Commission are announcing the appointment of Mark Polzin as fire chief.
According to a press release, Polzin comes to New Berlin after working in the Racine Fire Department for 26 years.
He most recently held the position of Division Chief of Fire Prevention.

Investigators are looking for the cause of a weekend fire that killed a man in Appleton.
Officials say the man’s house was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived Saturday. A next-door neighbor spotted the flames and called 911.
Firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control in about 30 minutes and found the victim once the fire was extinguished.

Sunday marked 32 years since six Kansas City Missouri firefighters died in an explosion. The explosion happened at a construction site on Nov. 29, 1988.
The crews were fighting a trailer fire. They were unaware the trailer had thousands of pounds of ammonium nitrate and fuel oil inside, and the firefighters were killed instantly.

One man was rescued Sunday from a pre-dawn fire that destroyed at least two buildings in downtown Tomah.
Tomah Police Chief Tim Adler said every building on the east side of the 1100 block of Superior Avenue likely sustained some kind of damage. “We have smoke and water extension into pretty much everything on the block,” Adler said.
