Suamico fire station receives minor damage after vehicle hits building

Fire officials say no one was inside a Suamico fire station when a vehicle hit it Tuesday evening. According to the Suamico Fire Department, firefighters who were at a nearby training facility quickly responded to the station, located on Riverside Drive, when it was hit at 7:30 p.m. Officials say the male driver, who they say is not a firefighter, was treated at the scene before being released to the Brown County Sheriff’s Office.

85-year-old found dead in Marquette County blaze

An 85-year-old man was found dead Monday evening following a blaze that destroyed a Town of Harris home. According to the Marquette Co. Sheriff’s Office, the first report of the fire came with a 911 call around 5:10 p.m. Flames had completely engulfed the house, at W5268 Elk Rd., by the time firefighters and other emergency personnel arrived on the scene.

12 more dead from COVID-19 in Wisconsin; 77 more hospitalized

Twelve deaths were added today to the total of those who have died due to COVID-19, according to the latest numbers from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services. Deaths for each day are reported by DHS HERE. DHS also reported 77 people were newly-hospitalized. As of Sunday afternoon, 1,425 COVID-19 patients were being treated in Wisconsin hospitals, up-41 from the day prior.

Texas volunteer fire department renovates excess Stewart Stevenson military truck into fire truck

PHOTOS: The Lorenzo Volunteer Fire Department accepted a $16,300 grant through the Rural Volunteer Fire Department Assistance Program to help convert an excess military Stewart Stevenson truck into a firefighting vehicle. The Texas A&M Forest Service administers the assistance program and the Department of Defense Firefighter Property Program, which awarded Lorenzo VFD with the truck.

Watertown family of 5 displaced after kitchen fire

The Watertown Fire Department received a call around 2:30 p.m. from the City of Watertown Dispatch Center about a building fire at 1153 Boughton Street. According to a news release, the occupants of Building 6 called 911 for a kitchen fire.

New program in Colorado to offer early cancer screening for firefighters

The team behind a new wellness program created specifically for firefighters said they hope early cancer screening will help save lives. The Medical Center of Aurora and Potomac Primary Care are launching the new effort called the Firefighter Wellness and Cancer Screening Program. “They support and protect our Colorado communities and now it’s time for us to protect them,” said Amie Shae, the oncology program manager at The Medical Center of Aurora and part of the team that created the new program.

Creeping Coyote Surprises Firefighters at Florida Station

Michigan firefighters celebrate baby boom

Crews respond to garage fire on Madison's west side

One dead in house fire in Medford

One person is dead in a house fire in Medford early Saturday morning. At 1:20 a.m., the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office received a call that a house was on fire at the 1100 Block of South 8th Street in Medford. Officers on scene found an attached garage on fire and the house filled with smoke, according to a release from the Medford Police Department.

Oconto tavern damaged by fire

Fire caused minor damage to an Oconto tavern Friday night. Approximately 10 people inside at the time evacuated, said Oconto Fire Rescue Chief Josh Bostedt. No one was injured. OFRD was called at 8:49 p.m. to the Shiloh Lounge, 124 Chicago St., for smoke in the building and basement, but firefighters learned en route that flames could be seen.

An evening news broadcast in March sparked an idea for Kolby Kolbet: Could a space-age looking helmet used in Europe play a role in reducing coronavirus risk while transporting patients in the U.S.? Months and many hours of testing later, the Sea-Long helmet worn by COVID-19-positive patients is now part of medical transport company Life Link III’s standard operating procedure when transporting those requiring oxygen.

Whitefish Bay Fire Station Renovations Revealed

The Fire Stations in both Whitefish Bay and Shorewood that started last year are now complete. The Shorewood Station remodel started in December 2019, according to North Shore Fire/RescueChief Robert Whitaker. The Whitefish Bay Station remodel started in June 2019. Whitefish Bay station was built in 1953 and had limited updates, other than the kitchen, since then.
