Beaver Dam voters approve fire department staffing referendum

Voters in the city of Beaver Dam approved a referendum to raise the tax levy and fund six new positions in the fire department on Tuesday. Voters approved of the referendum by 5,127 "yes" votes to 2,591 “no” votes, or 66.43 percent approval to 33.57 percent disapproval. The revenue from the referendum will cover six full-time firefighter/paramedic staff members in the department.

Fire damages home on Eau Claire's north side

A Tuesday morning fire caused about $85,000 damage to a residence on Eau Claire's north side. According to the Eau Claire Fire Department the fire was reported at 6:55 a.m. at 3120 Venus Ave. All of the residents were out of the house when firefighters arrived. Firefighters found flames coming from the second floor windows.

Car intentionally set on fire in Racine

Racine Fire Department Engine 6 was dispatched just before midnight Monday to a report of a parked vehicle on fire near the intersection of DeKoven and Kearney avenues, according to a press release from the Racine Fire Department. Engine 6 arrived to a 2008 Ford Explorer on fire with fire mainly in the rear cargo area.

San Francisco Firefighter Critically Injured in Freak Accident

Tennessee gas station a total loss, no injuries after fire at Seymour Speedway Market

VIDEO: A Seymour gas station is a total loss after it went up in flames Monday afternoon. Seymour Volunteer Fire Department Chief John Linsenbigler says crews were called to the scene at the Seymour Speedway Market on Highway 411 just before 12:45 p.m. Linsenbigler says everyone inside made it out of the business, and no injuries were reported.

Mauston approves fire service changes with neighboring towns starting in 2021

Mauston and the surrounding communities are changing the structure of fire service in the area, dissolving the association between the towns and instead entering into individual contracts for fire service. The Mauston Common Council approved the change during a meeting Oct. 27. The council approved a memorandum of understanding with the Townships Rural Fire Association and individual contracts with six municipalities.

Marsh fire being investigated as possible arson in Winnebago County

Sussex's new fire chief brings years of experience

Kristopher Grod is prepared to lead the Sussex Fire Department toward meeting its goal of following industry best standards by 2023. The village's board of fire commissioners on Oct. 28 hired Grod as the new fire chief. He previously served as chief for the village of Kronenwetter — between Stevens Point and Wausau — since May 2019.

Century-old time capsule opened at New Hampshire firehouse

Video shows firefighters rescuing riders stuck on rollercoaster at SeaWorld San Antonio

A new video shows San Antonio firefighters rescuing several riders stuck on a rollercoaster at SeaWorld. SAFD crews were called out to SeaWorld, located at 10500 Sea World Drive on the far West Side, around 1 p.m. Sunday. The riders were reportedly stranded on SeaWorld’s Wave Breaker rollercoaster. The video shows firefighters utilizing a high-extension ladder to reach the riders and get them down safely.

City of Madison Fire responds to first fire call in Town of Madison, storage items burn

The City of Madison Fire Department responded to the first fire call in the Town of Madison this morning when a fire broke out at Vinny’s Lockers on the 1300 block of Culmen Street around 6:30 a.m. The report said that upon arrival, the crew reported smoke showing from all sides of the structure. They entered the building and found items and debris on fire.

Madison fire crew swims to rescue person in sinking vehicle

Authorities say firefighters swam about 20 yards to a vehicle that was sinking into a Madison lake and rescued a person who was trapped in the back seat. The State Journal reports that the victim was unresponsive and did not have a pulse when pulled from the vehicle near the Warner Park Boat Launch on Saturday night.

Chief retires after 10 years with Milwaukee Fire Department, 37 total years of service
