The program focuses on broad and comprehensive public safety matters relevant to communities of all sizes and composition.

Sun Prairie Fire Department personnel, with assistance from Marshall EMS and Dane County deputies, rescued a 70-year-old Marshall man after he drove his pick-up off a bridge.
Capt. Corey Quinn from the Sun Prairie Fire Department said at approximately 10:30 a.m., Sun Prairie Fire & Rescue responded along with Dane County Sheriff’s Deputies and Marshall Emergency Medical Service (EMS) to a motor vehicle accident in the Town of Sun Prairie.

The 19-year-old man accused of stealing a Dallas Fire-Rescue ambulance earlier this month visited the fire station the day before and inquired about becoming a firefighter, police say.
Felix Lopez is currently facing a second-degree felony charge of theft of property after being accused of stealing a $230,000 ambulance from Dallas Fire Station 53 on April 5 and leading multiple police agencies on an hourslong chase that only ended when the emergency vehicle got stuck off-road with flat tires.

A downtown restaurant temporarily shut down over the weekend after a laundry fire broke out in the restaurant’s basement.
Madison firefighters responded to the 100 block of South Butler Street shortly before 5 p.m. Friday for a report of a basement fire. When they arrived, crews found a clothes dryer and the items around it on fire.

A Slinger celebration was born out of the good deed of a 7-year-old girl.
Students saluted Girl Scout Britney Bohn with signs and a parade. She even earned a ride in a fire truck. It all happened on March 26.

Area firefighters were able to get some realistic training Saturday.
The Town of Shelby Fire Department hosted a Live fire training.
The house was donated to the fire department almost nine months ago and has been used for various training purposes. The training gives fire departments the chance to practice their skills without anyone or anything being in harm’s way.

A driver needed to pulled from a creek in the Town of Sun Prairie Friday morning after his pickup truck went off the side of a bridge.
According to Sun Prairie Fire & Rescue, the 70-year-old Marshall man was heading west on Hwy. T around 10:30 a.m. when his mid-size truck drove off the bridge and fell 30 feet into the creek.
