Law enforcement, first responders in Virginia honoring public safety telecommunicators this week

For the rest of the week, towns, cities, and counties around southwest and central Virginia are celebrating the men and women who serve as 911 dispatchers, the unseen heroes of public safety. According to the City of Roanoke, Congress proclaimed the second week of April as National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week in 1991.

Shelby: Live-fire training for local fire departments

Area firefighters were able to get some realistic training Saturday. The Town of Shelby Fire Department hosted a Live fire training. The house was donated to the fire department almost nine months ago and has been used for various training purposes. The training gives fire departments the chance to practice their skills without anyone or anything being in harm’s way.

String of fires at Three Bridges Park leaves city officials perplexed

The 23-acre park, nestled directly west of Mitchell Park, runs along the Menomonee River and features part of the Hank Aaron Trail. The Redevelopment Authority of the City of Milwaukee owns the park. Dave Misky, assistant executive director of the Redevelopment Authority, said there have been at least three fires at the park since December.

70-year-old rescued after truck crashes into Dane County creek

A driver needed to pulled from a creek in the Town of Sun Prairie Friday morning after his pickup truck went off the side of a bridge. According to Sun Prairie Fire & Rescue, the 70-year-old Marshall man was heading west on Hwy. T around 10:30 a.m. when his mid-size truck drove off the bridge and fell 30 feet into the creek.

Lake Geneva Fire Department a leader for hiring women

Pillman and Olsen are two of the 10 female firefighters/paramedics who currently work for the Lake Geneva Fire Department. Fire destroys Black Bear Bar and Grill near Augusta

‘Sound the Alarm’ will bring fire safety education to La Crosse

An upcoming day of home fire safety will help people in La Crosse stay safe. VIDEO: One killed, eight hurt after Ohio paint plant blast

One person was killed and eight people were hurt in an explosion and second-alarm fire at an Ohio paint plant early Thursday. About 40 employees were working just after midnight when the blast occurred in one of five buildings on Yenkin-Majestic Paint's campus in Columbus, officials said. While most of the employees came out of the building as firefighters arrived on the scene, authorities learned two were trapped, according to Columbus Division of Fire Battalion Chief Steve Martin.

Garage fire leaves Fox Crossing residents and family pet without a home

The Fox Crossing Fire Department responded to a garage fire Thursday that left three residents and their dog without a home. According to a release, the fire came from an attached garage on the 1300 block of Linda Avenue. Ripon fire chief provides insight into the unique challenges facing rural fire departments

Oklahoma State University students create new virtual reality COVID-19 training program

Kentucky fire department to use decommissioned jet for training

California County Launches New Illegal Fireworks Reporting System In Wake Of Explosion
