A kitchen fire Thursday displaced a family of five and caused thousands of dollars in damage to a Sun Prairie duplex, authorities said.
Family members were cooking in their duplex in the 2000 block of Wisconsin Avenue when a "mishap" lead to the fire, Sun Prairie Fire Chief Christopher Garrison said.

Fire crews from Wisconsin are working on a couple fires burning in northern Minnesota.
Dry conditions have led to a couple of small wildfires near the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. They started popping up after a lightning storm moved through the area.
Two of the fires are about 20 acres and are under control.

Mobile Fire-Rescue Public Information Officer Steven Millhouse explained the new device. He said, “Video laryngoscope. We use it for intubations in the field which would allow us to keep an airway open.”

The teenager who was pulled from the rubble of the collapsed Surfside condominium was reunited with the first responders who helped rescue him.

A family is safe after their home caught fire in Kiel Wednesday night during a storm.
The Kiel Fire Department was called to the 600 block of 10th Street for reports of smoke and flames. Firefighters were able to contain the flames within ten minutes after arriving on scene.
The residents were home at the time of the fire, and were able to evacuate safely.

The Peoria Fire-Medical Department has purchased a hazmat robot to avoid tragedies like the 2019 explosion at the APS McMicken energy storage facility that injured four Peoria firefighters.

One person is dead following a crash in Grant County on Tuesday morning.
Officers responded to the intersection of Business Highway 151 and Commercial Drive at around 10:15 a.m. for a report of an accident involving a semi truck and car. A Facebook post from Platteville police said the driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene after suffering significant injuries in the crash.
