A dog is safe after a Wednesday morning house fire while no one was home, according to Madison fire officials. Neighbors of the home on Elka Lane called 911 just before 7:30 a.m., and crews were able to put the fire out in about 10 minutes. Many pet owners teach their dogs how to sit, roll or shake hands, but rarely do they ever train their pets to guide firefighters out of a burning building. Officials say a fire in Algoma early Tuesday afternoon caused one person to be treated for smoke inhalation. A man from Hobart is facing eight charges for separate arson incidents that date back to 2018, one of which gave his uncle a heart attack and later died. According to the criminal complaint, 24-year-old James Ambrosius is charged with eight counts of arson dating back to 2018. Originally, authorities were called to interview Ambrosius on July 27, 2021, as he was seen at a scene of a fire and admitted to being in the parking lot and using cocaine in a vehicle.
