TEEX Industrial Fire School hosts 59th Training in Texas; Participants attend from across the globe

The 59th Annual TEEX Industrial Fire School began this week. This week alone, around 500 students are gearing up at the TEEX Brayton Fire Training Field. They are gaining hands-on experience within the fire industry, including leadership and communication skills. "We are so blessed to have this facility so close to us," a student said.

Black smoke visible for miles following Illinois warehouse fire

VIDEO: Black smoke could be seen billowing from across the Mississippi River late Tuesday afternoon as firefighters responded to a warehouse fire in East St. Louis. The fire happened near the intersection of E. Broadway and N. 17th Street. The smoke began to be noticed around 5:30 p.m., though it’s unclear exactly when the fire started.

Washington D.C. Firefighter's Car Stolen From Station as He Responded to Emergency Calls

A D.C. firefighter who spent the night responding to emergency calls returned to the fire station Tuesday morning to find his car was gone. Engine 21 in the 1700 block of Lanier Place NW in Adams Morgan is one of the District’s busier fire stations and spent the night responding to back-to-back emergency calls.

Book tells tale of New York rescue-turned-firedog after becoming TikTok sensation

A rescue-turned-firedog in Orange County now has a book written about him - after the popular pooch became an internet sensation last year. Nick, the Newburgh firedog, is not only one of the guys at the city fire department, he's also an internet sensation on TikTok. His fame is due to Assistant Chief Tim Dexter, who posted Nick on TikTok last year, which got 86,000 views - and gave Dexter the idea to write a children's book about him.

Fire causes about $25K damage to Eau Claire home

A fire caused an estimated $25,000 damage, but no injuries, Tuesday at a city residence. According to a news release from the Eau Claire Fire Department: Firefighters responded at about 3:45 p.m. Tuesday to 661 Wisconsin St. Upon arrival, the crews found a working fire on the second floor of the two-story structure.

VIDEO: Alabama home heavily damaged in fire

Multiple fire departments responded to a house fire on Poplar Lane in Citronelle Monday. When Citronelle Fire and Rescue arrived at the home, they saw heavy smoke and fire coming from the roof. No one was inside the home at the time, and no injuries were reported. Georgetown-Fellowship V.F.D., Oak Grove Volunteer Fire-Rescue, and Calcedeaver Volunteer Fire/Rescue Department were requested as mutual aid.

Cheers filled the air as Steve Hines drove the Belmar First Aid Squad's 1938 Ford ambulance one last time. As Hines pressed on the gas Friday, the sirens sung. He gave the 83-year-old ambulance as much gas as it would take to accelerate onto a truck that would drive it approximately 650 miles to the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan — the ambulance's new home.

Madison firefighters share electrical safety tips after responding to report of smoke in eastside residence

Madison fire crews were able to educate some residents about proper electrical safety protocols when they responded to an east side home Sunday morning for a report of smoke in the basement. When crews arrived to the residence in the 1800 block of Helena Street shortly before 2 a.m. they didn’t find any signs of smoke or fire, but they did discover an odor of burned plastic and a light haze of smoke in the basement.

Longtime Manitowoc paramedic needs help to pay medical bills after serious illness

Nine area fire departments respond to fire in Durand

Multiple fire crews spent seven hours Saturday trying to put out a fire on L. Poeschel Road in Durand. When firefighters arrived around 11 a.m., two of three connected pole sheds were on fire. One of them was already burned to the ground. They were able to save one of the sheds and half of another one.

Authorities Looking For Driver After Car Crashes Into Fuel Tanker At Oklahoma Gas Station

VIDEO: A car hit a fuel tanker which burst into large flames in the parking lot of an OnCue in Oklahoma City, police said. Just before the car crashed into the tanker, the fuel truck was filling up with diesel at the gas station near NW 164th and Portland Avenue. The crash happened about 2 a.m. Monday and police said the driver who caused the crash is on the run.

New bill could provide affordable housing to first responders

The Volunteer First Responder Act is a bipartisan bill that has been reintroduced by U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin and three other Senators from various states. “We are advancing bipartisan legislation that would create a greater incentive to do this sort of community service by qualifying EMT’s and first responder firefighter for two programs,” Baldwin said.

Crews were called to a house fire on Deane Boulevard in Racine shortly after midnight Sunday for a report of flames coming from a backyard. Upon arrival, crews found visible smoke and flames coming from an upstairs bedroom. Firefighters made the initial attack from the rear of the house and battled the stubborn blaze until it was extinguished.

Three Rescued From Oshkosh House Fire

Three people and three pets were rescued from their burning home Saturday morning in Oshkosh. At about 7:39 a.m., the Oshkosh Fire Department was called to a house fire at 1627 Western Street. The woman who called said she and her two children, along with two dogs and a cat were trapped upstairs by smoke.
