Cops, firefighters burn rubber in Beat the Heat World Finals in Indiana

VIDEO: Lucas Oil Raceway brought the heat on Saturday as the racetrack hosted the world finals for Beat the Heat, Inc. But behind the wheels of these drag cars weren’t professional racecar drivers. Instead, the “heat” burning rubber up and down the raceway were police officers and firefighters from across the nation.

Appleton to Mark 20th Anniversary of 9/11 with Procession, Ceremony

The city of Appleton is commemorating the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks with a procession and ceremony. The procession on Sept. 11 is set to begin at Fire Station No. 1, at the corner of Atlantic and Drew streets, at 8:45 a.m. That is the time when the first plane hit the World Trade Center. The procession then moves south on Drew Street to City Park.

Three injured in Buffalo County crash

Three people were injured in a two-vehicle crash Saturday in Buffalo County, according to authorities. The Buffalo County Sheriff’s Department said Monday that Kylie Barningham, 28, of Pepin was driving east on Hwy. 35 and began to turn north onto Hwy. 25 when she failed to yield to Christina Gbejewoh, 43, Woodbury, Minn.

40-year-old man pronounced dead after attempting to rescue two kids from water at North Beach

A 40-year-old Montgomery City, Missouri man passed away after attempting to rescue two kids from Lake Michigan at North Beach in Racine, Sunday, August 22. The Racine County Sheriff’s Office announced that on Saturday, at approximately 3:04 p.m., deputies were dispatched to North Beach for an individual who was unaccounted for after he went into Lake Michigan at North Beach.

Crashed turkey truck causes closure on Wisconsin Highway 63 in Baldwin Township

A highway is closed just over the border in Wisconsin after officials say a Jenni-O truck overturned, spilling 800 turkeys and prompting a large clean up effort. Highway 63 is closed from County Road DD to County Road E, about two miles north of Baldwin in Baldwin Township, according to the St. Croix County Sheriff.

Houses under construction destroyed after 2nd-alarm fire in Arizona

Multiple houses under construction were damaged or destroyed after Phoenix firefighters battled a second-alarm fire Sunday morning. Arizona's Family cameras show several structures went up in flames near Bell Road and Tatum Boulevard. Phoenix fire crews responded to the area around 9:30 a.m. for reports of a house fire.

Without the remains of the mangled cab in the middle of the photo, it may have been hard to even realize that a fire truck was involved in the Saturday night collision. Even harder to believe is the fact that there were no injuries among the many first responders who were on the scene that night. Animal Services, Fire Rescue to help Florida residents rescue lost pets with microchips

Retired Thruston-Philpot fire truck converted into traveling pizza restaurant in Montana

Small town fire departments in Wisconsin struggle to recruit volunteers

Historically, says Jefferson Fire Chief Ron Wegner, his department had a waiting list four people deep. Peshtigo Fire of 1871 centerstage at forest history conference

California’s Dixie Fire might be 2,100 miles from Marinette County, but it’s rekindling memories of the Peshtigo Fire of 1871. “Fires are not a thing of the past in Wisconsin. Minnesota fire department to staff new medical vehicle specializing in cardiac arrests

The Edina Fire Department, in partnership with the University of Minnesota, will soon help operate a first-of-its-kind truck specializing in treating cardiac arrests. AstraZeneca antibody cocktail 77 percent effective in preventing symptomatic COVID-19 among the high-risk

AstraZeneca scored a win on Friday as data showed its antibody cocktail is 77 percent effective at preventing symptomatic COVID-19 in high-risk populations. The research found no one who took AstraZeneca’s combination, called AZD7442, developed severe COVID-19 or died due to the virus. In comparison, three participants who received the placebo endured serious illness, with two fatalities.

Lincoln County Sheriff's Office investigating suspicious house fire, suspect in custody

Tomah Fire Department set to celebrate 150 years

Saturday, August 28, the Tomah Fire Department is celebrating throughout the day and into the night. Since 1871, Tomah's volunteer firefighters have been protecting the city from fire and emergencies.
