Massive fire in downtown Rice Lake deems multiple businesses a total loss

PHOTO: A massive fire in Rice Lake on Thursday afternoon destroyed a building that housed multiple businesses, including a brewery, in the downtown area. The Rice Lake Fire Department says they were called to 17 East Messenger Street around 3:40 p.m. They arrived to find the multi-story building engulfed in flames.

'No community is immune': Officers, volunteers role-play active shooter training in Mt. Pleasant

Sun Prairie family displaced after house fire

A late night fire left a family without their home Thursday night. Sun Prairie Fire & EMS responded to a report of a fire on the 3000 block of Selkirk Dr. in Sun Prairie around 11:12 p.m. Thursday. According to Sun Prairie Fire, Sun Prairie Police arrived on scene first and made contact with the residents in the multi-family structure.

Firefighters responded around 2 p.m. to the blaze at 598 Justin Pl. at around 2 p.m. By the time CBS News Texas Chopper arrived about 30 minutes later, large portions of the roof were gone and flames engulfed other parts of the home, sending thick black smoke into the sky.

Colsen-branded tabletop fire pits sold nationwide recalled after 19 people burned, some quite seriously

PHOTOS: Nearly 90,000 Colsen-branded tabletop fire pits sold by major retailers nationwide are being recalled after dozens of alarming incidents left 19 people with burn injuries, some requiring surgery and others permanently disfigured. The products are a burn and fire hazard in that alcohol flames can be invisible and lead to flame jetting when the pit reservoirs are filled, causing fire to flash back to the alcohol containers, unleashing burning alcohol onto people nearby, according to a notice posted on Thursday by the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

Chippewa County boy reunites with first responders who helped him

Cottage Grove to participate in Sun Prairie fire, EMS study

VIDEO: 1 injured in explosion at propane facility in Texas, officials say

One person was injured in an explosion at a propane production facility in Waller County on Wednesday afternoon, according to emergency officials. It happened around 12:30 p.m. at the RapidXchange Production Facility on FM 529 in Brookshire, about 10 miles north of I-10. As of 3:30 p.m., the Waller County Fire Marshal's Office said the fire was under control and the grass fire surrounding the facility was completely contained.

Suamico Fire Department sees surge in false emergency calls from iPhone crash detection

The Suamico Fire Department is seeing an uptick in false emergency calls from iPhones, and officials say it comes from the "crash detection" feature on newer devices. 14th generation and newer iPhones, along with 8th generation and newer Apple Watches, automatically call emergency services when it detects what it believes to be a crash.

Fire damages Kewaskum area home

PHOTO: A fire in a house near Kewaskum has displaced several people. Monday, just before 11:30 AM a resident at 3404 Hwy 28, just east of the village of Kewaskum said she heard a pop in the kitchen and found fire when she went to investigate. The woman, along with a child and an upstairs tenant were able to self extricate while the Kewaskum Fire Department was on the way.
