Fire at Flamingo Motel in Lake Delton

Fire causes $450,000 in damage to a Lake Delton Motel on Thursday around 6:30 p.m. According to the Delton Fire Department, firefighters discovered smoke in the indoor pool area and flames coming from the sauna when they arrived. The fire was quickly put out, but the sauna and nearby locker rooms sustained significant damage.

Antique fire truck show at the Chippewa Valley Museum

The public is invited to experience a unique collection of antique fire engines and equipment at an Antique Fire Truck Show from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 23 on the front lawn of the Chippewa Valley Museum in Eau Claire’s scenic Carson Park. This one-day-only exhibit will include the museum’s own 1931 Seagrave Pumper Truck, a 1960s High Top ambulance, late 1800s hose carts, and at least six additional fire trucks dating from the early 1940s through early 1970s.

Lightning strikes 2 Lake Hallie homes, causes gas leak in 1 home

VIDEO: No one was seriously hurt after lightning struck two homes in Lake Hallie Wednesday. Lightning first hit a TV cable box inside a home on 44th Avenue, according to the Chippewa Fire District. Officials told News 18 they checked the attic and removed part of the inside wall. The flames didn't spread, and there was minimal damage.

Riverside Fire District receives books for children at emergency scenes

VIDEO: How do you calm and comfort a child who just escaped a house fire? It's a challenge firefighters face often. A Wisconsin-based program may have an answer. "Reach a Child" donated six backpacks full of books to the Riverside Fire District in Schofield on Thursday morning. Firefighters can hand out the books to children at the scene of emergencies.

Video shows fisticuffs at fire scene in New York town

A 40-year member of the Jamesport Fire Department was temporarily suspended and could face departmental charges for his role in a fight that broke out at a fire scene July 3. Tom Brady, 65, a former chair of the Jamesport Fire District board of commissioners, says he wasn’t the aggressor in the fight, which was caught on video by a Riverhead Town employee.

Two rescued from fiery Illinois crash

PHOTO - A young man and boy suffered serious burns Thursday when the sedan in which they were traveling on Landmarks Boulevard left the road, hit a light pole base and burst into flames. The unidentified victims are being treated in St. Louis; their conditions were not available late Thursday. The Alton Police Department’s Traffic Division continues investigating the crash.

Lightning sparks fire at indoor waterpark in the Wisconsin Dells

Lightning is believed to have started a fire at the Chula Vista Resort in Wisconsin Dells Wednesday evening. According to a news release from the Wisconsin Dells Police Department, a fire on the roof of the indoor waterpark building was reported at 9:45 PM. When officers arrived, they saw flames and smoke coming from the roof.

Afternoon storm knocks out power, injures electrical worker in Eau Claire

VIDEO: Severe storms ripped through the region Wednesday afternoon, with winds in Eau Claire reaching up to 40 miles power hour. On Chippewa Street, heavy winds toppled a tree, which took down a power line and knocked out power to the area. "My electric went out, and I peaked out the door to see what was going on -- and the wind was blowing like there was no tomorrow" said Eau Claire resident Christina Amaral.

Gas leak causes evacuation in Sun Prairie

Workers installing fiber in Sun Prairie hit a gas main Wednesday afternoon, causing an evacuation near downtown, according to the Sun Prairie Fire Department. The incident happened in the 100 block of North Street around 3:45 p.m. Wednesday. According to the fire department, when fire trucks arrived, there was a smell of natural gas in the area, and firefighters closed down North Street.

Madison CampHERO encourages girls to consider police, fire and EMT careers

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics for 2016 shows a sharp difference in the number of women and men in law enforcement, fire and other related fields. Across the nation, about four percent of women are firefighters and about 14 percent in law enforcement are women. However, a program in Madison is working to even out those statistics.

Recruiting for future Beloit firefighters

Montana firefighter dies on the fire line in Lolo National Forest

A firefighter has died while fighting a fire in the Lolo National Forest. According to a press release sent from Grayback Forestry, a 19-year-old and a Missoula resident was killed in the line while fighting a fire on the Seely Lake Ranger District. The Grayback Forestry employee was part of a 20-person attack crew.

U.S. hotel, NFL arena may sport flammable panels

In promotional brochures, a U.S. company boasted of the "stunning visual effect" its shimmering aluminum panels created in an NFL stadium, an Alaskan high school and a luxury hotel along Baltimore's Inner Harbor that "soars 33 stories into the air." Those same panels — Reynobond composite material with a polyethylene core — also were used in the Grenfell Tower apartment building in London.

Illinois town mourns fire battalion chief called 'cornerstone' of department

The village of Carpentersville is mourning the unexpected death Tuesday of Fire Battalion Chief Todd Middendorf. "He was basically one of the cornerstones of the department," Fire Chief John-Paul Schilling said. "He was well-loved within the entire region." Middendorf, 46, was a resident of Carpentersville and member of the local fire department for 23 years, starting as a part-timer in 1994 and moving to full time in 1997, Schilling said.

Florida Fire Truck Involved In Deadly Crash On Expressway

VIDEO - Miami-Dade firefighters were saved by one of their trucks during an emergency call on the Palmetto Expressway. Overnight, fire crews were called to assist in a hit and run accident in the southbound lanes of the highway between Okeechobee Road and NW 74th Street. Arriving crews used a fire engine to block off two lanes of traffic while they helped the injured driver.

New Hampshire boy, 6, believed to be state’s youngest OD case revived by firefighters

Firefighters sprayed Narcan up the nose of a 6-year-old boy this week, reviving the unconscious child from a suspected opioid poisoning — a traumatic event that, according to authorities, could be the youngest overdose victim ever in the Granite State’s biggest city. “The fact is that it’s a kid that could be our own kids’ age,” said Christopher Hickey, who oversees the Manchester Fire Department’s emergency medical services.
