Crews rescue fisherman who fell through ice on Lake Mendota

VIDEO: Foggy conditions made it hard for law enforcement to find an ice fisherman, after he fell through the ice on Lake Mendota. It happened Wednesday night just off the shore of the city of Middleton. The Fire Chief with the Middleton Fire District said a man was riding back to shore on an ATV when he hit a thin spot on the ice and fell through.

Fire causes evacuation in Sparta neighborhood

VIDEO: A portion of a Sparta neighborhood was evacuated Wednesday night after a house fire. Firefighters from the Sparta Area Fire District were called to the area of Tyler and Main Streets at about 7 p.m. Initial calls said a garage was on fire before the flames spread to the house. Chief Mike Arnold says there were two vehicles in the garage at the time of the fire and between 50 and 60 tires in the garage's attic.

Fire damages home near 39th and Roberts in Milwaukee

Firefighters on Wednesday morning, Jan. 10 responded to the scene of a house near 39th and Roberts in Milwaukee. The call came in around 3:40 a.m. When crews arrived on scene they found fire on the first and second floors of the home. “The fire from the interior of the building extended to the second floor of the building and had a deep-seated fire in the attic space.

Firefighter, police and EMT: Palmyra volunteers triple up on public safety duties

Superior Fire Department seeks bids for new headquarters

Retired West Allis firefighter celebrates 104 years of life

A former firefighter who served with the West Allis Fire Department is celebrating more than 100 years of life. “It feels good, but I don’t run anymore," Bill Koehn said. Bill Koehn may not run anymore, but at age 104 he can still pop champagne with the best of ‘em, especially when surrounded by friends and family.

After heading Pennsylvania fire company since 1971, 'old-school' chief steps down

Those are just some of the ways people describe Al Ewing Sr. Ewing joined the Fawn No. 2 volunteer fire company when he moved to the township from Arnold in 1966, and had been its chief since 1971. Heated negotiations between California county and firefighters coming out of deficit, critical report

The County of Kern will go into negotiations with its fire union in the next few weeks, if not the next few days, and the stakes will be high. In response to rising toll of active shooter and hostile events, NFPA to fast-track a new standard for unified response

A rise in active shooter incidents and the escalating impact of hostile events has prompted the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) to process NFPA 3000, Standard for Preparedness and Response to Active Shooter and/or Hostile Events as a provisional standard, which means it would be available for use as early as April, 2018.

Spinning tires cause car fire on Lake Wausau

VIDEO: Spinning tires are to blame for a car fire on Lake Wausau, according to fire officials Tuesday night. They said some people were in a car on the lake when it got stuck. When the people tried to get out of the rut, the spinning tires started on fire. Fire officials said it was too far away from land and they couldn't drive out to it, therefore they resorted to shoveling snow onto the car.
