Firefighters across the generations were honored this weekend in Sister Bay as the Sister Bay/Liberty Grove Fire Department held its Christmas and Wives/Husbands Appreciation Party. A raging Saturday night blaze in a three-story apartment building caused an estimated $440,000 in damage, but all residents escaped the three-story building safely, the Racine Fire Department reported Sunday. Fire crews were called to the fire at 1045 Grand Ave. shortly after 8:30 p.m. The department later reported that working smoke alarms alerted the residents who were home at the time and allowed them to get out.

VIDEO: A Pittsfield man died Friday in a house fire on County B east of Pulaski. According to the Brown County Sheriff's Office, the home at 6081 County B was engulfed in flames when authorities arrived at 8 a.m. Pulaski Tri-County Fire Department Fire Chief James Styczynski said the victim was an "older gentleman," who lived alone.

Longtime Boulder Rural Fire Rescue Chief Bruce Mygatt retired this week after being with the department for almost 50 years.
Mygatt, who told the department about a year ago he would be retiring, celebrated his last day on Wednesday. Mygatt joined the at-the-time all volunteer Boulder Rural and Suburban Volunteer Fire Department in 1972 and became the department’s first full-time chief when it became the Boulder Rural Fire Protection District.

Northern Mariana Islands Gov. Ralph DeLeon Guerrero Torres today announced that he has accepted the nationwide public-safety broadband network (NPSBN) deployment plan offered by FirstNet and AT&T, meaning all 56 states and territories in the U.S. have made an “opt-in” decision.
“Today, Gov. Torres made history,” FirstNet CEO Mike Poth said in a prepared statement.

As many as a dozen Chicago firefighters are facing disciplinary action for allegedly looking the other way while a colleague had sex with a woman at a South Side firehouse. The firefighter accused of engaging in the firehouse sex - with a woman who was his girlfriend at the time - is facing either a lengthy suspension or termination, City Hall sources said.

A firefighter suffered head trauma after a woman drove over a fire hose while Palmyra Fire Department was dispatched to the scene of a reported fire last week, police said.
The department was dispatched at 4 p.m. Jan. 9 to 1300 Park Drive in North Londonderry Township for a report of a fire, township police said.

John R. Hawkins, who for 12 years was chief of the Cal Fire Riverside Unit and the Riverside County Fire Department, was suddenly removed from his post on Friday, a Cal Fire spokesman said Friday night.

Five people are displaced after an apartment fire Sunday morning in Janesville. The Janesville Fire Department were called to a two-story, four-unit apartment building in the 100 block of South High St. at 11:43 a.m. for reports of smoke and fire in the building, according to a release. When they arrived, all residents were safely out of the building, officials said.

A 59-year-old Marshall man has been arrested on tentative charges of first-degree intentional homicide in connection with the disappearance of a 21-year-old Sun Prairie man. At a press conference Thursday morning, Jan. 18 at the Marshall Fire Department, Dane County Sheriff Dave Mahoney said the search for Jesse Faber has become a homicide investigation.
