West, the town where a fertilizer plant exploded after a fire, killing 15, has settled its claims with manufacturers and distributors of the product that exploded, according to a news release.
CF Industries, El Dorado Chemical Company, International Chemical Company and Adair Grain will pay the city $10.

An Appleton resident is okay after being rescued from a house fire. Appleton firefighters were called to the home on W. Reeve Street just after 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. Upon arrival, crews saw smoke inside the home. Once inside, emergency crews found the resident lying on the floor by the door. The resident was safely taken out of the house and evaluated for possible injuries.

Members of the Sun Prairie Fire Department said goodbye to a four-legged friend this week. In a Facebook post, the fire department commemorated their "unofficial mascot," Hydro, who had to be put down Sunday morning after being hit by a truck on Saturday. Jordan Bond is proof that good ideas can come from unexpected places. For Bond, the place was Norway and the idea was a life-saving mobile phone application.
