Seymour Residents Make It Out After Fire Roars Through House

A house fire in Seymour overnight brings a big response. According to the Town of Seymour fire chief, crews were call to a home on Cemetery Road just after 8:30 Tuesday night. It appears the fire started in the garage and spread to the home. 2 adults and 3 children were home, but got out safely. But there were 2 pets inside that died.

Proposal would require CPR training for 911 operators in Wisconsin

A proposal in the state Legislature would require 911 operators to get training to help callers administer CPR to people who need it. Under the proposal, every 911 call station must have people trained to give CPR instructions over the phone, or have a plan to transfer callers to a dispatch center that can provide those instructions.

Kansas firefighter dies day after responding to fire call

A Wamego firefighter has died after suffering serious injuries from a fall. According to the Wamego Fire Department, John Randle and the Wamego Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 4:50 a.m. on Monday. After the fire was put out, he was severely hurt from a fall while “returning a fire apparatus to service.

Virginia fire department mourns the death of longtime fire chief

Bluefield, Virginia is mourning the loss of its fire chief. Fire Chief Jim Hardy passed away the evening of Sun, Dec. 31st, 2017. Officials in the city of Bluefield said Hardy died of natural causes. Hardy was an active members of the fire department for over 65 years. Mayor of Bluefield, Virginia, Don Harris said Hardy dedicated his life to the fire service and his legacy will live on.

Ohio teen receives probation for firetruck collision that killed 2 other teens

A 16-year-old Akron girl hadn’t seen her aunt since she collided with a firetruck last July, killing her cousin and another close friend. She faced her aunt during her sentencing in Summit County Juvenile Court Tuesday, and tearfully apologized for the death of her cousin, 16-year-old LaShae Johnson.

Two New York firefighters rescued from frigid bay

Fire Chief Frederick E. Jackson and firefighter Will Lipczynski went to save a stranded ice fisherman Tuesday afternoon on Chaumont Bay when they ended up having to be rescued themselves. The two firefighters were stuck in an airboat for more than two hours in the bay’s frigid waters during whiteout conditions and had to be helped back to shore by members of the Clayton Fire Department.

South Carolina firefighter fired for posts about protesters sues city

A white Columbia Fire Department captain who was fired from his $53,722-a-year job for making threatening remarks on social media about a Black Lives Matter protest has filed a lawsuit against the city alleging racial discrimination. Active duty Wisconsin Rapids firefighter passes away

A Wisconsin Rapids firefighter has died following unspecified injuries suffered over the weekend. Jim Easton, a 22 year veteran of the Wisconsin Rapids Fire Dept., died unexpectedly on New Year's day, according to an announcement from the Wisconsin State Firefighters Memorial. No other information was provided.

Sauk Prairie Ambulance purchases three new defibrillators after 15 years

Sauk Prairie Ambulance has a new tool that will help improve an individual’s chance of survival. After receiving approval from the Ambulance Commission, Sauk Prairie Ambulance purchased three new Lifepak 15 monitor/defibrillators – one for each of its fleet. The three new units replaced three, 15-year-old models, and do the work of five different machines, according to Kevin Weber, Sauk Prairie Ambulance Director.

Officials: 3 adults, child displaced after house fire on Milwaukee’s north side

VIDEO: Four people including a child have been displaced after fire swept through their home near 35th and Custer on Milwaukee's north side. Fire crews were dispatched to the scene around 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday, January 2nd. Officials say the home suffered significant damage throughout. The residents will not be able to stay there in the short term.

20 people displaced due to carbon monoxide leak from boiler, Beloit officials say

More than a dozen people were displaced Monday night after a carbon monoxide leak, Beloit fire officials said. Crews were called around 9:20 p.m. to 725 Vine St. for a leak in a three-unit rental building, according to a release. No one was injured or had any illnesses from the incident because of early detection by a carbon monoxide alarm, officials said.

Two People Out In The Cold After Green Bay Fire

Two people were forced from their home after a fire in Green Bay. The fire broke out shortly after 12:30 this morning (TUE) at a home on LaCount Road, on the city's west side. The fire broke out in the basement, but there is smoke damage to the first floor. Officials say the fire started near a wood fireplace.

Separate fires kill 1, displace 2 and destroy Chippewa Falls barn over holiday weekend

One person is dead following a structure fire in a Dunn County town, while a fire in Chippewa Falls displaced residents on New Year’s Day and a separate fire in Buffalo County destroyed a barn and much of its livestock. The Dunn County sheriff’s office identified 84-year-old Wallace Cutting of rural Colfax as the man who died in a Saturday afternoon house fire.

Racine firefighters battle blaze at Rosie's restaurant on south side

PHOTO: A south-side restaurant sustained significant damage from a fire Monday. At about 4:30 p.m., the Racine Fire Department responded to a call for a fire at Rosie’s restaurant, 1804 Taylor Ave. The fire did reach the second level of the building. Firefighters battled the blaze for more than three hours in below-zero temperatures until investigators could inspect the scene.

Man allegedly tried to stab California firefighter as he was being rescued from flames, police say

A man allegedly tried to stab a firefighter who was trying to save him from an early morning house fire in Citrus Heights, police said Sunday. Rhode Island firefighter sues city, union over alleged assault by deputy chief

Kansas fire investigators say city breaks the law regarding overtime pay

A lawsuit filed last week in federal court contends the city of Wichita does not pay its fire department investigators fairly for their work. At issue in the complaint is how many hours the investigators have to work before they begin receiving overtime. Currently, Wichita Fire Department investigators and firefighters get paid time and a half if they work more than 204 hours in a pay period, which is 27 days long, according to the lawsuit.
