The city’s second new fire station project took a step forward last month with approval of its design and architecture. The Plan Commission unanimously approved the station that will be built at the corner of Syene and West Clayton roads for an estimated $7 million. The first new station opened last year on Marketplace Drive.

Firefighters found the body of a missing construction worker in the smoldering debris of a massive construction fire in Denver's North Capitol Hill neighborhood that injured six people and damaged surrounding buildings and vehicles. One person is still unaccounted for.
Hundred-foot flames and smoke could be seen for several miles when Denver firefighters arrived on scene at 1833 Emerson Street around noon Wednesday.

For the ninth time, the city has sent a certified letter to attorneys representing the San Antonio Professional Firefighters Association to request the union meet with city negotiators to come up with a new contract between the parties.

Day four of rescue efforts resumed Thursday morning in hopes of finding a Nashville firefighter who disappeared Monday morning after his truck plummeted into the Tennessee River in Humphreys County.
Nashville Fire Department firefighter Jesse Reed, 32, went missing early Monday after his vehicle plunged into the water near Mason's Boat Dock in Waverly, authorities said.

Increased ambulance fees and a new charge for patients who are not transported to a hospital are being considered in Somers. A rate survey was provided to village officials Tuesday by Somers Fire Chief Carson Wilkinson. “The proposed change to the village’s fee schedule would put us in line with our neighboring communities and communities in southern Wisconsin,” said Wilkinson, who indicated the last time a rate change was considered was more than two years ago.

The city firefighters’ union, Local 825, filed a four-count lawsuit alleging a breach of fiduciary duty against the Uniformed Professional Fire Fighters Association of Connecticut, a union which represents the state’s fire departments.

The Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office is investigating after the Mayfield Volunteer Fire Department, not far from the Tuscaloosa-Fayette County Line, was burglarized early Tuesday morning. The Mayfield Fire Chief says not only was the station burglarized, but two fire trucks were stolen, then run off the road and abandoned.

A group of Long Island firefighters landed in hot water for a massive brawl at a wedding party that left the groom injured, police said.
