Firefighters burn Beaver Dam building where explosion took place

VIDEO: Firefighters are burning a Beaver Dam apartment building where a fatal explosion took place last week. Authorities set a controlled fire Thursday to burn the chemicals that cannot be removed because of their volatility. Those who lived in the building were not been allowed to return to retrieve any belongings or keepsakes because of the danger of another explosion.

Woman arrested for Monday's fatal fire in Deer Creek

Authorities have arrested a 27-year-old woman in connection to a Monday fire in the town of Deer Creek that killed a man. Dana Nachtrab was arrested Wednesday, according to an Outagamie County Sheriff's Department release. She is expected to be charged with arson and first-degree reckless homicide for her suspected involvement in a fire that broke out at W10721 Pine Road in which 23-year-old Cody Nachtrab died.

Several dead after newly-installed portion of Florida pedestrian bridge collapses

A newly-installed portion of a pedestrian bridge connecting Florida International University with the city of Sweetwater collapsed Thursday. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, there are "several fatalities." The 950-ton section of the $14.2 million bridge at Southwest Eighth Street and Southwest 109th Avenue was installed Saturday.

Georgia Firefighter Named 2018 Ray Downey Courage and Valor Award Recipient

'He betrayed everybody': Former Maine fire chief sentenced for arson

The former fire chief of Old Orchard Beach was ordered to spend one year behind bars for setting a fire that burned more than 40 acres. Madison firefighters, others to shave heads for St. Baldrick's Foundation

Texas Fire Union Rejects Latest Negotiation Request

Pennsylvania city council to weed out 'rotten apples’ on fire department

Voters overwhelmingly approve reduction in California fire district board

Voters in the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District chose to reduce the soon-to-be elected board from nine members down to five in a recent mail-in ballot. Although the results are still unofficial, 91 percent of votes had been counted on Tuesday afternoon and over 90 percent of those votes were in favor of reducing the number of directors on the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District’s Board of Directors.

Follow Up: Man killed in Beaver Dam apartment explosion had worked as scientist

The man killed in the Beaver Dam apartment building explosion last week was a 28-year-old quality control technician for a food manufacturer there who had a background in science, but his pastor said he “was not a bomb maker.” Benjamin D. Morrow, 28, of Beaver Dam, was killed in the apartment blast, according to Roman Ryan of Joyce-Ryan Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Madison, which is handling Morrow’s funeral arrangements.
