Two West Virginia firefighters killed while responding to triple fatal crash; Fire chief in ICU

Two Kanawha County firefighters are dead and two remain hospitalized after an accident Saturday evening on the West Virginia Turnpike. A Pratt Volunteer Fire Department truck was responding to a triple fatality car crash when their truck crashed en route. Deputy Chief Rod Johnson spoke with the media Sunday afternoon to provide an update.

4 firefighters sue Virginia city over test-cheating scandal

Four Virginia Beach firefighters who were denied promotions last year are suing the city. They claim results of an annual captain’s exam were tainted when a battalion chief gave confidential test information to two firefighters. The lawsuit was filed last week in Circuit Court on behalf of longtime firefighters David Scherrer, Richard Irving, Alexander Wazlak and Mark Bayly, who were among 36 firefighters taking the exam last year.

Connecticut fire department responds to blaze at one of its firehouses

Longest serving fire chief in Washington city’s history, says farewell

20 as Olympia fire chief — Larry Dibble, 65, will call it a career at the end of the month. He is the longest serving fire chief in the city’s history. The next fire chief will be current deputy fire chief Greg Wright. But Wright is set to retire, too, so he expects to serve 18 months in that role before a new chief is appointed by the Olympia city manager.

Son of volunteer firefighter honored for jumping into action when he saw flames at his own Kohlsville home

That was the case during a recent fire in Kohlsville in Washington County. Firefighters are crediting a boy, 10, for saving the day. He might not be the oldest volunteer, but if you need a tour of the Kohlsville Fire Department, Peyton Theusch, 10, has been coming to the fire station for about half his life.

Milwaukee Fire Department warns of individuals going door-to-door, posing as firefighters

Officials with the Milwaukee Fire Department are issuing a warning following reports of individuals in West Allis going door-to-door, posing as firefighters. MFD officials said these individuals ask to inspect fire alarms in homes. They noted that while the Milwaukee Fire Department does install smoke alarms on a daily basis in the city of Milwaukee, there would generally be a fire engine or ladder truck nearby.

Barron County father, son die when silage collapses on them

A father and son died when silage collapsed on them while they worked inside a silo Saturday evening in Barron County. Daniel Briel, 51, and David Briel, 14, died on the scene of the incident at 671 17½ St., south of Barron. A third man who escaped the silage collapse called 911 at 7:49 p.m., according to the Barron County sheriff’s office.

Driver hurt after car crashes into Fond du Lac apartment building

VIDEO: One person was taken to the hospital after a car crashed into an apartment building Sunday morning on the city's east side. Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue personnel responded about 8:40 a.m. to Golfview Estate Apartments, 265 Whispering Springs Drive, where they found a four-door car crashed into a first-floor apartment, according to the department.

Resident and three pets die in Racine house fire

VIDEO: The Racine Fire Department responded to a home on Gilson Street just before 6:30AM Sunday for a fire. When firefighters arrived and searched the house they found a resident suffering from “injuries unsustainable to life.” Firefighters also found three deceased pets inside the home. The fire damage was primarily contained to a bedroom with smoke damage extending through the rest of the home.

Investigation continues after students fall ill at Oconomowoc Highschool

According to Western Lakes Fire Chief Bradley Bowen, the Medical Division on Thursday, March 22 transported a total of 64 patients by ambulance to Oconomowoc and Aurora Hospitals. The individuals transported included both students and faculty of the school. Throughout the day, the two emergency departments evaluated an additional 40 walk-in patients for related symptoms.

Two Pennsylvania firefighters killed in collapse at Weaver Piano Co. fire

Two York City firefighters were killed when a wall collapsed Thursday at the former Weaver Piano & Organ Co. building, which had been heavily damaged in a fire that began the day before. Ousted Florida firefighter of year sues City of Orlando for 'wrongful termination'

Virginia firefighters sue city over ‘tainted’ promotion process

California Utility to Cut Power in Areas at Grave Fire Risk
