VIDEO: Authorities on Sunday released the identity of the man who died Saturday when the helicopter he was flying crashed into power lines and, subsequently, the Fox River in Oshkosh. The body of Jonathan D. Bahr, 27, of Platteville, who the Winnebago County Sheriff's Office believes was the sole occupant of the helicopter, was recovered by divers Saturday evening.

Gov. Tom Wolf has ordered Pennsylvania state flags to fly at half-staff at all state offices and facilities to honor a Dover Township fire police officer who died while doing maintenance on a fire vehicle.
Grant Froman, 55, was pronounced dead at 9:59 a.m. Wednesday, June 6, at York Hospital, according to York County Coroner Pam Gay.

A firefighter recruit was injured after falling from a building at a New Haven training academy on Thursday.

San Luis Obispo firefighter Thomas Kofron is no stranger to high-stakes situations. He saved his family's home from a devastating wildfire using only bottled water and orange juice.
On Wednesday, Kofron faced an even tougher challenge: surviving an extreme obstacle course on national TV.
Kofron, who works for Cal Fire, appeared Wednesday on NBC's "American Ninja Warrior," which challenges competitors to prove their physical mettle in the hopes of winning $1 million.

VIDEO: A man already serving prison time for an armed robbery in Eau Claire struck a plea bargain with prosecutors on burglary and arson charges. Davy Cole is accused of burglarizing three Verizon stores in Eau Claire, as well as a Sprint PCS store and a T-Mobile store in 2017. Jodie Hettrick has been appointed to lead the Anchorage Fire Department, according to an announcement Wednesday from the mayor’s office.
Hettrick joined the department in 2012. She has served as acting chief since the previous chief, Denis LeBlanc, retired in May.
Now that her position is official, Hettrick says there are some internal initiatives that can go forward.

Hernando County commissioners shut down the Hernando Beach Volunteer Fire Department on Valentine’s Day 2017. They did so for good reason.
The volunteers were failing to respond to 911 calls. They’d ignored a state requirement to hire a medical director. For more than two years, they never produced a financial audit to show how they were spending taxpayer dollars.

Providence Public Safety Commissioner Steven Pare said Monday he plans to conduct yet another search for a permanent fire chief, but it will likely begin after the City Council considers a proposal to remove the mandatory retirement age for high-ranking members of the fire and police departments.
Pare told the Council Finance Committee the city’s search for a fire chief is nearing the three-year mark due in large part to an existing ordinance that requires firefighters to retire when they turn 60.

Roy and Ted Wagner were there at the beginning when their father played a big part in their central New Jersey hometown forming a volunteer fire company — and they're still going strong half a century after joining the ranks themselves.
