Fire department in Wisconsin rolls out new mental health resource program for firefighters

Monday, The Milwaukee Fire Department announced they are partnering with Ignite the Spirit to provide essential mental health resources for firefighters through fully funded therapy sessions facilitated by licensed mental health professionals. The program is launching under the All-Hands Initiative, and Fire Lieutenant Joseph Flick founded Ignite the Spirit in 2018.

Wisconsin Fallen Firefighters Honored

The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF) will host the 43rd National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend (Memorial Weekend) on May 4-5, 2024 in Emmitsburg, Maryland. This year’s national tribute will honor 89 firefighters who died in the line of duty in 2023 and 137 firefighters who died in previous years.

Third Milwaukee County Transit System bus damaged in just over a week

Tornadoes leave a trail of destruction in Oklahoma, communities begin to assess damage

VIDEO: Multiple tornadoes tore across Oklahoma on Saturday night, leaving a wide trail of destruction, leveling homes and buildings and knocking out power for tens of thousands of residents and businesses. At least four people were killed in the state, including a child. ‘Protect our brave firefighters’: University of Texas students create firefighting robot

VIDEO: University of Texas students created a robot that can help protect firefighters. Their startup is called Paradigm Robotics. The technology is meant to assist with search and rescues in structure fires or other dangerous situations. Madison crews respond to deck failure, downed power lines, flipped car at Mifflin Street Block party

Residential fire damages building in downtown Appleton

The Appleton Fire Department is reminding building owners to have their sprinkler and fire alarm systems properly serviced and maintained following a fire on the 100 block of College Avenue Friday night. Madison Fire Department: Lake Rescue Team responds to person yelling for help in Lake Mendota

The Madison Fire Department Lake Rescue Team responded early Friday morning after it was reported a person was yelling for help in Lake Mendota. At about 4:30 a.m., MFD officials were dispatched to the 100 block of Iota Court after 911 callers reported someone yelling for help in the water. According to MFD, witnesses said the voice came from behind a property on Iota Court.

Construction continues at La Crosse Fire Station 4

The project, costing around $8 million according to La Crosse Fire Chief Jeff Schott provides much needed upgrades compared to the current one. “When they had initially built the fire station, the trucks were small and the resources were such they could cram two trucks in their garage,” Chief Schott said.

VIDEOS: Massive blaze burns at iconic Oceanside Pier in California

PHOTOS: Firefighters were called out Thursday afternoon to battle an inferno at the far end of the iconic Oceanside Pier. The fire was reported shortly after 3 p.m. and the firefight stretched overnight and into Friday. A massive plume of smoke quickly filled the sky, and two firefighting boats arrived on scene shooting water cannons at the structure at the end of the pier, where it broadens to support two structures and is called the hammerhead.

Connecticut town hosts national launch of VR training system to assist first responders

Details shed light on Utah home explosion caused by detonation of old dynamite

Fire department in Colorado starts wellness podcast

Grand Junction Fire Department Captain James Kavanaugh has recently taken on a new and novel job for a firefighter: podcast host. ”Going Interior,” GJFD’s new wellness podcast, aired its first episode April 1. Kavanaugh, who oversees GJFD’s academy, said the department’s communications staff has had the idea for a podcast for a while, they just didn’t know the format.
