Brookfield fire chief named 14th Assembly District First Responder of the Year

Brookfield Fire Chief David Mason has only been on the job for about four months. But in that time, he's already won the First Responder of the Year award for the 14th Assembly District. It's an award he's happy to receive but never expected. "There's no expectation for this kind of recognition," Mason said.

Eau Claire Fire Department warns of T-shirt spam

The Eau Claire Fire Department says a text message received by people across the Chippewa Valley is not from them. The text message says there is a limited edition T-shirt representing the fire department, and encourages people to click the link to make the purchase. Deputy Fire Chief Allyn Bertrang said he first learned about this text around 10:30 Thursday morning.

Truck hauling ammunition catches fire on highway outside of Amherst

Milwaukee Mayor nominates Dana World-Patterson to Fire and Police Commission

Nekoosa to lose its ambulance service, will contract with Wisconsin Rapids

The City of Nekoosa will lose its ambulance service next year, after a vote from the city council. Angry residents filled the council chambers at the municipal building Tuesday night, begging city leaders not to sign a contract with the Wisconsin Rapids Fire Department. In the meeting, members of the Wisconsin Rapids Fire Department said the contract would allow for two paramedics on each call to Nekoosa, and that response times would be around 10 to 15 minutes.

New York law strengthens building code enforcement; Here's what it means

Crash Responder Safety Week: 'Move and slow down' - Steps to protect emergency crews after crashes

Neillsville Fire Department Responds to Shed Fire

Fire pit ashes spark house fire in Appleton

Effort underway to have fallen firefighter listed as New York county’s first Line of Duty Death

Thomas Pomplin was 28 when he died from the effects of overheating and exhaustion from fighting the Storm’s Cedar Tub and Pail Factory fire in Nyack in July 1854. He died eight days later. It is believed that he was the first line of duty death of a firefighter in Rockland County, but because he was black, that designation never happened.

New goal set for emergency responders to clear crashes off Missouri highways

Emergency response agencies across Missouri now have a goal of clearing an accident scene on state highways in less than 90 minutes. A handful of other states already have something similar in place, like Washington, Florida, and Tennessee. The goal is to have the roadway clear 90 minutes after a first responder arrives on the scene.
