A Sioux City woman was arrested early Saturday and charged with causing thousands of dollars of damage to vehicles parked at a Sioux City fire station. According to court documents, firefighters at the station at 2630 Third St. heard a car alarm going off in their parking lot at 6:53 a.m. When they went outside to check the alarm, they found Dominique Carman in the lot damaging the vehicles.

The Evansville Community Fire District and Evansville Police are mourning after a firefighter died unexpectedly on Sunday.
Christopher Augustin served as a firefighter and Emergency Medical Responder in Evansville starting in 2013. He also served in the Bellville Fire Department.
“Firefighter Augustin served honorably until his passing,” Evansville Chief of Police Patrick Reese said in a statement Monday.

Evansville firefighter and emergency medical responder Christopher Augustin died unexpectedly over the weekend, the police department reported Monday morning.
Its statement described Augustin’s death on Sunday as “untimely and unexpected,” adding that “he served honorably until his passing.”
Augustin served with the Evansville Community Fire District and Evansville Medical Services since 2013, the statement indicated, noting that prior to him joining those departments, he was previously part of the Bellville Fire Dept.

The fast-moving flames broke out just after midnight at the apartment complex along Plum Creek Lane. Channel 9 crews on the scene could see intense flames shooting from the apartment units and second-floor balconies as firefighters tried to get the blaze under control.

A new $6 million state-of-the-art fire station on Des Moines' northeast side will cut travel times in half but will cost the city of Des Moines thousands of dollars in overtime every week due to an ongoing staffing shortage in the Des Moines Fire Department.
Fire Station 11 opened Nov. 1, despite the department facing 19 staff vacancies — a number that's expected to rise to about 23 by the end of the year due to retirements.

One person sustained minor injuries in a Sheboygan house fire Saturday, Nov. 13.
According to the Sheboygan Fire Department, the fire happened near 14th and Union around 12:30 p.m. Upon arrival, firefighters spotted smoke and flames coming from the home's second floor. Two cats and were saved, and paramedics treated one person for minor injuries at the scene.

One person was injured and removed from their home following a basement fire on Saturday morning in Green Bay.
According to the Green Bay Metro Fire Department, at around 11:40 a.m., crews responded to a home located in the 500 block Skyline Boulevard for reports of a fire.

Madison Common Council approved the 2022 city budget Thursday night, including increased spending to improve ambulance services in the southeast portion of the city.

A 67-year-old man is injured after a house explosion in Langlade County.
The Langlade County Sheriff's Office tells News 9 that emergency crews were called to the house on Kennedy Lane shortly after 11 a.m.
They were on scene close to two hours.
The exact cause of the explosion is still under investigation, but it's believed to have started in the basement area of the home.

The Riverside Fire District shared between the Village of Rothschild and City of Schofield is now operational with a few finishing touches left for the building.

Jason Elmore has walked several paths in life, none of which he ever planned.
For some people, Elmore was the face of the Chesterfield Fire Department. with whom he served for 20 years.
He originally wanted to join the police department, but a fateful quirk of the regulations changed his course.

Paul Wertheimer has spent four decades trying to help prevent deadly crowd surges since a disaster at a concert by The Who changed his life.
Eleven young people, ages 15 to 27, died in a crowd crush at Cincinnati’s Riverfront Coliseum in 1979. “There were piles of shoes and clothing,” said Wertheimer, who responded to the scene as the city’s public information officer.
