Two Texas firefighters, water utility worker injured, hospitalized in natural gas leak

Two Arlington firefighters and a Arlington Water Utilities crew member were injured while responding to a gas leak that occurred Sunday afternoon in central Arlington. All three were transported to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas. The extent of their injuries is not known. According to Arlington Fire Department spokesman Mike Joiner, Arlington Water Utilities crews were repairing a water line leak at the intersection of Ditto Avenue and Dugan Street.

Ohio fire department continues to serve untaxed residents

Denmark Barn Collapses from Snow Trapping Hundreds of Cows

"We were in the barn working, trying to get done with our barn chores, and we could hear loud cracks, and within minutes of the cracks the roof was coming down," said Keith Brunner, owner of Cedar Red Dairy.

2 injured, 5 displaced after fire on Schroeder Road in Madison

Two people were injured and five were displaced after a fire on the southwest side of Madison early Saturday morning. Firefighters responded to the Waterleaf Apartments on 6739 Schroeder Road following reports of a possible fire in one of the units, according to a release by the Madison Fire Department.

Verona fire shows off new facility at open house

VIDEO: Verona firefighters got a chance to show off their new facility Saturday. The fire department gave guided tours of the new, 42-thousand square foot, $10.7 million building. It's a big upgrade from the old building which was built for a volunteer department. It's now a combination department for Verona fire and Fitchburg EMS.

Seven injured in south side Milwaukee apartment fire

Seven people were taken to the hospital today following a fire in a south side apartment building. According to the Milwaukee Fire Department, the seven are being treated for minor smoke inhalation. The fire was reported around 11:45 AM in an apartment building at S 43rd Street and W Arthur Court. According to the MFD, the fire was confined to one apartment.

Appleton kitchen fire damages home, displaces residents

Appleton firefighters responded to a report of kitchen fire in a residential home on the 1500 block of N. Outagamie Street in Appleton at approximately 4:38 p.m. on Thursday. Officers from the Appleton Police Department were the first to arrive on scene, and they were able to remove one person from the home.

Radioactive material washed off 3 firefighters after sludge barrel ruptures at Idaho nuclear site

A barrel containing radioactive sludge ruptured at an Idaho nuclear facility, federal officials said Thursday, resulting in no injuries and no risk to the public but possibly slowing progress in shipping waste out of the state. The U.S. Department of Energy said the 55-gallon (208-liter) barrel ruptured late Wednesday at the 890-square-mile (2,305-square-kilometer) site that includes the Idaho National Laboratory, one of the nation's top federal nuclear research labs.

Veteran Pennsylvania firefighters say chief chasing away volunteers

Whitehall Township commissioners were alarmed Monday to learn that several veteran firefighters have left the Whitehall Township Fire Department over disputes with how the new chief is running things. Don Dreisbach, a volunteer who left after serving for 37 years, told commissioners that Chief David Nelson’s treatment of members and training requirements were driving away longtime volunteers like himself.

A firefighter's quest to becoming the first Colorado above-the-knee amputee firefighter

Fire damages mobile home in West Allis, no one injured

VIDEO: Firefighters on Thursday morning, April 12 responded to the scene of a mobile home fire near 103rd and Greenfield Avenue in West Allis. The fire broke out just after 7:00 a.m. When firefighters arrived on scene the mobile home was fully engulfed in flames. No one was injured. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Chippewa Falls emergency responders update decade-old monitors

The Chippewa Falls Fire and Emergency Services Department has plans to upgrade equipment that Fire Chief Mike Hepfler said paramedics use on 90 percent of their medical calls. With a vote Tuesday, April 3, the Chippewa Falls City Council has approved paying for the remaining $7,000 to $9,000 costs for two new cardiac monitoring machines.

Sun Prairies police, fire, EMS conduct joint active shooter training

But the active shooter scenarios being practiced by Sun Prairie police, fire and emergency medical service departments are, unfortunately, all too real. Using a training radio channel, police were notified of shots fired inside the church.

Janesville fire causes $50,000 in damages

A structure fire stemming from a pickup truck caused $50,000 in damages Wednesday afternoon. The source of the fire was found to be a pickup truck inside the shed at Malterer's Landscape and Lawn Care. The fire was filling the eaves and ridge vent of the building with black smoke just before 2:30 p.m.
