Firefighters used more than 40,000 gallons of water overnight Sunday to put out a fire near diesel fuel tanks in the town of Roxbury, according to a Facebook post.
Sauk City firefighters were called around 11 p.m. to the 8800 block of Hornung Road for a report of corn fodder stacks on fire next to diesel fuel tanks, officials said.

Fire crews are investigating the cause of an overnight apartment garage fire in Kronenwetter. First responders were called to the Timber Creek apartment complex, off of Kronenwetter Drive, around 2:30 a.m. Monday.
Crews from several departments were able to contain the fire to the garage but anything inside was likely destroyed, according to Kronenwetter Fire Chief Roger James.

An SUV crashed into a fire truck on US 10 in Farmington Township on Sunday night.
The Waupaca County Sheriff's Department says they received a 911 call about the crash near Morgan Drive. An accident report says an SUV, driven by a 48-year-old man, rear-ended a fire truck in the eastbound lanes. The truck, from the Amherst Fire Department, had its emergency lights activated.

Fifteen employees were hospitalized early Sunday after an ammonia leak at a Birds Eye food plant in Darien, Racine Fire Chief Steve Hansen said.
About 140 people were working overnight at the factory on County Road X when alarms and sensors started going off.Seventy-five workers were checked at the scene and released, Hansen said.

A second firefighter has died battling the Ferguson Fire near Yosemite National Park, officials said Sunday.
The National Park Service has identified the firefighter as Brian Hughes, captain of the Arrowhead Interagency Hotshots. He was 33. The Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park firefighter died Sunday morning after being struck by a tree on the east side of the fire, where Hughes and his crew "were operating in an area with a large amount of tree mortality," park officials said.

The FDNY’s $10 million minority recruitment drive has floundered, because hundreds of black and Hispanic candidates haven’t paid a $30 application fee, The Post has learned.

The cause of death for six family members killed in a fire at a motel near Benton Harbor has been ruled smoke inhalation.
The fire started around 1:45 a.m. Saturday, July 28, in a room on the first floor of the Cosmo Extended Living motel, according to police.
The six people killed in the fire, police said, were Kiarre Curtis, 26; Marquise Thompson, 10; Gerome Randolph, 7; Samuel Curtis, 5; Savod Curtis, 4; and Avery Curtis, 2.

It was supposed to be a routine training exercise: firefighters climbing a ladder to the roof of a six-story building in downtown Los Angeles, as though the structure were on fire.

A Ridgefield Park volunteer firefighter has been suspended after allegedly taking a firetruck on a joyride two weeks ago and striking a utility pole.
The firefighter, Connor O’Grady, allegedly took one of the firetrucks out for a ride at about 10 p.m. on July 13 with a firefighter from Bogota steering the rear of the rig, according to Mayor George Fosdick.

A fire in Janesville on Saturday night caused $40,000 in damages, according to a press release from the Janesville Fire Department.
Crews were sent to 802 E. Court Street around midnight. When they first got to the scene, they reported heavy smoke coming from the third floor. It appears the fire originated from there.

The Middleton Fire Department hosted a block party Saturday, hoping to raise funds to buy equipment needed to keep the community safe.
The event had fun things to do for the kids who got to participate in activities such as a bouncy house, dunk tank and face painting.

An arbitrator decided Edward Ackerman violated the Fire Department's code of conduct, but that a lengthy, unpaid suspension is punishment enough.
