Middleton man breaks into family member's home, starts fire on kitchen stove, police say

A Middleton man was arrested Wednesday night after he broke into a family member's home and started a fire on the kitchen stove, according to a release. Before the fire was started, the family member left her Gammon Lane apartment to call 911 after 20-year-old Rukeem M. Harrison broke into her apartment, officials said.

Mansfield Retires After 27 Years As Town of Lake Firefighter

When the Town of Lake Fire Department was started in 1991, Firefighter Donald Mansfield was there. Jeff Olive was chief, and Mansfield was one of the founding members. At the end of November, after being with the department for all of its 27 years, Mansfield officially turned in his gear and retired.

Massachusetts firefighters lead push to ban carcinogenic chemicals

Mashpee Fire Lt. Nicole Stanley realized just how important banning harmful chemicals in flame retardants is when she was diagnosed with occupational cancer last summer. “Now that I’ve been diagnosed with cancer, it’s an eye-opener to me. I thought I was protecting myself,” Stanley told the Herald. Doctors have attributed Stanley’s rare form of breast cancer to exposure of carcinogens in her 28 years of service on the Mashpee Fire Department, she said.

FDNY firefighters to start training on how to safely pass gaps in bridges

One hurt in Milwaukee house fire at 13th and Cleveland
