Four Peoria firefighters who were injured are "doing good," according to a department's spokesperson.
In a post on the Peoria Fire-Medical Department's Twitter page, officials say Engineer Justin Lopez, who was in critical condition and taken into surgery following the explosion, "is awake and doing as well as can be expected.

Volunteer firefighting companies are calling on the state legislature to pass a law that would allow them to charge for the ambulance services that they provide.
Last week, the Firemen's Association of the State of New York and its members held a legislative outreach event at the Cambria Volunteer Fire Hall to vouch for such a bill.

The city’s fire department has proposed a budget that would allow it to devote more money to replenish the department’s Narcan stock, train incoming firefighters and cover costs for computer services.

Firefighters were on scene of a two-alarm fire at an apartment building near Fond du Lac and Good Hope Sunday night, April 21.
It happened around 8:30 p.m. By 9:30 p.m., the flame were extinguished -- and FOX6 News was awaiting word on any injuries.
Two residents leaving the scene said everyone made it out OK -- but there were concerns that a woman may have been injured.

Officials say a barn was badly damaged after a fire in Monroe County.
It happened at a farm on Independence Rd., between Sparta and Tomah, around 5:00AM Sunday morning. Officials say the property owners woke up after hearing a small explosion outside. That’s when they called 911.
The Sparta Area Fire District and Sheriff’s deputies arrived on scene to a barn fully engulfed in flames.

The man accused of burning down a Wausau laundromat and flower shop last week was charged with arson Friday afternoon in Marathon County court.
According to court documents Azeez Hakeem, 31, of Wausau, admitted to officers at the scene that he started the fire that destroyed Rainbow Laundry and Blossoms and Bows during the early morning hours of April 9.

The state House Judiciary committee tabled Wednesday a bill opening a three-year window for workers’ compensation benefits to be provided for all Montana volunteer firefighters.
Senate Bill 29 cleared the Senate Jan. 29 but was not referred to a House committee until last week. The bill calls for all volunteer fire departments in Montana to provide workers’ compensation coverage by October 2022.

The drinking water in Paradise, California, where 85 people died last year in the nation’s worst wildfire in a century, is contaminated with the cancer-causing chemical benzene, officials said.
Officials said they believe the contamination happened after the November firestorm created a toxic combination of gases in burning homes that got sucked into the water pipes as residents and firefighters drew water heavily, the Sacramento Bee newspaper reported Thursday.

According to a news release from the Waupaca County Sheriff's Office, a fire just before 4:30 p.m. Thursday damaged the Log Cabin Bar on Highway 54 in the Town of Mukwa.
Firefighters say they found heavy smoke coming from the basement, below some living quarters, at the back of the bar. The basement was destroyed by the fire.
